Hey all, I've decided to teach a course on rocket science. This will cover the basics of rocketry, and will briefly touch on some orbital mechanics later in the course. Lectures and associated assignments will go up every Monday and will be due by 11:59 PM Eastern Time the following Sunday night.
First Class: Monday, June 8th 2015
Syllabus:
Week 1 - Physics of Flight
Week 2 - Basic Rocket Construction
Week 3 - Thrust and Specific Impulse
Midterm Test and 1-Week Break
Week 4 - Δv or Changing Velocity
Week 5 - Orbit and Return
Week 6 - Basic Orbital Mechanics
Final Exam
Grading:
Classroom Discussions: 50%
Assignments: 20%
Midterm: 10%
Final: 20%
There are two options in taking the class, either as a formal student or by auditing the course. Formal students will be required to do the assignments and tests, but will be graded and receive credit at the completion of the course. By contrast, those auditing the course don't have to do the assignments or tests, but won't receive credit for having taken the class, so please indicate your preference.

I will be going over some real world physics, though. After all, rocketry is essentially just applied physics.
