Much of early Ranadian history is only known through religious texts. It is written that when God sent a plague of frogs, through His grace, they evolved into the Rana people, the native people of Ranadius. They were aware of their origins and as such became very spiritual and built a frog-shaped temple where they would go and pray to their Creator. The temple became the centre of their community and they settled around it, in what would become the city of Frogadier.
Some time after, a group from a war-mongering tribe called the Murtaza came to Ranadius. Their own island had been taken over by a much larger faction and this group had left to conquer a new island and then rescue their tribe. This was the first encounter the Rana ever had with others and being a loving, peaceful people, they welcomed the Murtaza. They were re-payed for their kindness with their village being pillaged and burned. The Murtaza planned to enslave the Rana people when they came back with their tribe. Before they left though, the Murtaza decided they were hungry. Having recognized the devotion to frogs in the Rana people, they decided to eat up some of the brightly coloured frogs they had seen on the island. The Rana had cried and begged the men not to eat them, but words fell on deaf ears as neither understood the language of the other. The men stuck the frogs on sticks and roasted them over the fire. Then they bit in and within a few minutes, they all had dropped dead. They had accidentally eaten poisonous dart frogs. The Rana cried in joy and prayed to God and thanked him once more for his mercy.
After the encounter with Murtaza, the Ranadian society grew a little more sophisticated. They started with a Council of Elders to help decide how to run day-to-day activities within the community. When issues arose, they were brought to the Council who dealt with them. It was their first form of government. The temple was rebuilt and even more splendid than before. The community began to grow and were undisturbed until the 1600's.
In the early 1600's, Captain Rizwan Yu and his crew became shipwrecked on Ranadius. Seeing smoke in the distance, they walked across the island, through its thick rainforest, until they reached the Rana settlement. When noticed, the Rana brought them to the Council of Elders. Yu tried to communicate that they were not a threat which did come across and they were welcomed into the community. While on the island, most of the men in the crew eventually took Rana wives, including Yu. He fell in love with a Rana woman named Ataahua. The men eventually learned to speak Ranadian and were able to communicate.
After quite a few years on the island, Yu decided it was time to go back to his homeland and tell his countrymen of this wondrous island. He brought Ataahua and their two children with him. Back in his homeland of Qingwa, Yu told his Emperor of the wonders of Ranadius. The Emperor decided that he wished to take this country for his own in the name of Qingwa. He sent Yu back with a large mass of people who settled on the island of Ranadius. The Rana people were welcoming and it was overall a peaceful arrangement. With them, the Qingwa had brought their own culture, and the Rana were content to let them stay that way, or adapt to theirs. As well, Rana who wished to adopt the Qingwa way were allowed to as well.
Through the colonization of Ranadius, the Council of Elders remained intact to deal with domestic issues but all major political issues were handled by the Emperor. It became a good system for both countries and remained this way for several centuries. Eventually they became an autonomous republic, but still a de facto part of Qingwa.
Recently however, tensions between Qingwa and Ranadius led to the declaration of Ranadius as a sovereign republic. Qingwa's Emperor had been thrown out via a military coup and the Council on Ranadius did not agree with this. Qingwa's new government allowed this only on the condition that all ties between the two countries were severed. Ethnic Qinqwans from Ranadius, including those born in Qingwa, were no longer welcome back in Qingwa. Ranadius agreed and so ties were severed.

Ranadius is a medium-large sized island of which most of it has not been explored. Mostly covered in rainforests, Ranadius is home to a variety of animals, including the national animal, the Poison Dart Frog. Native animals include a variety of other frogs, toucans, parrots, cockatoos, iguanas, a variety of snakes, and many fish, most abundantly trout. A non-native species found abundantly on the island is the yellow-spotted lizard. It is believed to have been brought from Qingwa as pets and then accidentally released.
The capital of Ranadius and its largest city is Frogadier. With a population of approximately 4 million and growing, Frogadier is the central hub of activity on Ranadius. It is home to the Democratic Council, the governing body of Ranadius. It is also home to Froak Temple, the largest in Ranadius. Most housing in this area is in large apartment building skyscrapers with a few older homes on the outskirts of the city. There are quite a few roundabouts in the city from which roads leading from other towns connect as most people who live elsewhere commute to Frogadier for work. Other cities on Ranadius include Qingtown, Gaeguli, Poraka and Medhaka.

The government of Ranadius is composed of a Democratic Council. It is similar to the previous Council of Elders they had, but the members in this council are voted on by the people, hence the change of name to Democratic Council. Each council member has their own group of staff to aid and advise. Usually each council member has around 5-10 personal staff.
Voting is not mandatory in Ranadius, but is encouraged. Voting is open to those 16 years of age or older who live on the island.
Ranadius is ruled very liberally. Most drugs have been legalized. Marriage is open for all, including polygamous marriage. There are very few things outlawed, although gambling is one of these things. This was outlawed after young children were found at casinos in Ranadius.
Ranadius has a well staffed emergency force (police, fire, ambulance) but the military is lacking support as traditionally, Ranadius is a peaceful country.

The economy of Ranadius has been a bit fragile since the split from Qingwa. The main source of industry is Trout Fishing, but other industries exist on the island including basket weaving, pizza delivery and door-to-door sales.
Ranadius is hoping to open up trade with other nations to aid in growth in this sector.

Ranadius' people are mostly of Rana and/or Qingwa descent with a small minority having immigrated from other areas. 75% of the island's 6 million people define themselves as "Ringolo" or mixed race Rana and Qingwa. 15% describe themselves as ethnically Qingwa and 9% describe themselves as ethnically Rana. The remaining 1% either declined to respond or chose other when surveyed.
The country is open to immigration.

Religion is the heart of Ranadius. Over 95% of the population follows Ranadian Christianity, a sect of Christianity derived from the belief that the Rana are descended from the frogs sent by God during the Ten Plagues. Most of the early history of Ranadius comes from religious texts.
The Poison Dart Frog is the national animal of Ranadius and has a large population of the island. June 21st is celebrated as Dart Frog Day. It is also believed to be the day that the Murtaza were defeated on Ranadius.
Qingwans introduced soccer to Ranadius and it has become a popular sport since then, played recreationally. There are talks of starting a national team and competing against other countries.
Television is a big form of entertainment on Ranadius. Most shows were imported from Qingwa but as ties have been severed, Ranadius is looking to start creating their own television shows and building an industry in that.
Arts are common hobby activities on Ranadius and are very popular amongst women who wish to work from home.
