The Auilerian Report is a compilation of press releases, broadcasts, written media and other similar sources, about the West Magnus kingdom of Auileria. The initiative of the ANR was started to provide world citizens with an overview of major events in and around the nation now that this nation is spreading its wings beyond its own borders.
Today King Magnus II appeared on national television to announce Project Gross-Adler, a joint effort by all branches of the armed forces to bring Auileria's capabilities into a new age.
"We have always prided ourselves on warding off enemies that would see our great country destroyed," King Magnus explained in his afternoon address. "43 years we have gone without giving a single inch of our sovereign territory. But the time where we can live in passivity is past (...) Foreign powers have risen that wish to intrude into our region and twist it to their own purposes. The time of passivity is past. Only by spreading our wings and reaching beyond our own borders can we protect ourselves."
One part of Project Gross-Adler will be a rethinking of naval doctrine and the development of vessels and infrastructure to suit those new needs. "The designs are still in the early stages. It is too soon to be definitive about what direction we will go."
When asked if he is challenging the naval superiority of Olbrask in the seas, he said, "This so-called naval superiority is an entirely Olbraskian construct. Until now we have had no need to challenge them on the seas, letting them carry on their propaganda of superiority. But it is not a role that we at any point granted them."
The army will get the smallest redesign. The commitment to protecting the land border against the "Olbraskian bullies" is unchanged but Auileria's capability to deploy soldiers elsewhere needs to be improved. The king denied any intention to use this capability in the foreseeable future. "It is my hope that we shall have peace, not war, in our time."
"As we prepare to better fight our enemies, so must we also cherish our friends. In the time to come we will be looking to strengthen the ties with nations that we have historically trusted and in the recent past come to friendly terms with. Together we stand stronger than alone."
More details will be provided in the coming months as plans are finalised.
