Tenth House Cup and Shield Competition (September 2016)

Ladies and Gentlemen of 10000 Islands,

As the Senator for Lyonnesse East, I hereby announce that the 10th House Cup & Shield competition as mandated by NS185-1 will be held on the 1st September, lasting through 30th September. At the end of the month, the winners will be announced.

As usual, the competition will be held using Cerb 's Accelerator 2.0. If you do not have access to that, please PM the Minister of Immigration HumanSanity .

For those unfamiliar with the rules, here's a quick recap:

The competition will run for a period of one month. The competition will begin one month after the election of the Lyonesse East Senator. It is the LE Senator's responsibility to build awareness among house leaders and in house threads about the competition leading up to the starting date.

During the week leading up to the starting date, the LE Senator will remind House leaders to update their rosters. CTE nations will be placed in a separate section, and WA nations should have (WA) placed next to their name.

During the period of the competition, participating nations will utilize the Accelerator to contact new nations and recruit them to the Islands.

The Accelerator calculates a monthly point total based on the recruiter's performance. At the end of the competition week, the LE Senator will access the "Top Recruiters" page of the Accelerator to determine the points accumulated by each participant. The LE Senator will then contact the Immigration Minister to receive the total for each recruiter of nations that came to XKI for the duration of the competition. In addition to points for each telegram sent, the recruiter will earn twenty points for each successful recruit.

The LE Senator will then add these points to a House Grand Total, each participant's points being added to their House's total. The House with the largest Grand Total wins the House Cup. The LE Senator will then calculate a per capita total based on the number of Accelerator-eligible nations in the House. The House with the largest per capita value wins the House Shield. These awards remain with the House until the next competition.

Houses with Nations who send over 500 telegrams will be eligible to receive the House Sceptre. This award will be given to the House of the nation with the highest success rate, provided they are willing to share their telegram.

(Please note that unlike the House Cup and the House Shield the House Sceptre does not qualify as a House Competition that is mandated by law under the new House Achievement Plan (NS 218-4).

In September, the XKI will be hosting the Tenth House Cup and Shield Competition. This is a tri-annual competition whereby houses in XKI compete for the bragging rights as the best house in XKI. To be eligible for the competition, you need to have a recruitment accelerator account, which requires you to be at least 2 weeks old and must have at least 10 forum posts. Recruiting is very easy because we have the accelerator.



Also, you will need to join a house (obviously). To join a house, you'll have to visit this page 10000islands.proboards.com/board/152/10000-islands-generations-houses and post in their respective threads to join the house. And you are all set to participate in the house competition.

Meanwhile, the House Torch has been lit in the open field just outside of the House of Wordy's Quarters, the winners of the 9th House Cup. This marks the start of the journey where both the House Cup, Shield, and Sceptre, along with the torch will make its journey around 10000 islands by boat along the Sea of Lyoneese, Iwerddon Sea, Himes Ocean, Sea of the TITO Knights and the Anime Daisuki Sea, eventually reaching the XKI Hall of Generation where the final torchbearer will light the cauldron on 1st September to mark the start of the House Cup and Shield. Over the course of the next month drama, tension, you name it, we have it, so buckle your seatbelts and get ready for action! Meanwhile, here are some pictures taken from the lighting of torch ceremony today.




Apart from Kanta Hame being subdued to the ground for being drunk and shouting "Great deal of alcohol required that fluents speak english worse than I" nothing much really happened. The girls in the photos have volunteered to help assist the Senator of Lyonnese East and practiced lighting the torch many times prior to this ceremony, so please applaud them for their efforts.



This is how the torch and the House Cup and torch will make its way around 10000 islands, to the XKI Hall of Generations. A speedboat was chosen simply because there isn't much time left.



Here's how the cauldron will look like for the Tenth House Cup and Shield. People are busily chattering away about who the final torchbearer will be. Speculators think that Escanaba might be the man, but it remains to be seen as to who it will be.

And...... our final torch bearer is none other than the great Escanaba  the House Steward for the House of Wordy! Escanaba's contributions as a recruiter is envied by many, becoming 10000 islands’ all-time top recruiter with 330901 telegrams sent. This makes the best recruiter in 10000 islands and someone every participant of this year’s House Competition should try to emulate. Here is a picture of the cauldron.

It's table tabulation day people! In the competition for the house cup, the House of Wordy (Escanaba) takes the lead, with strong competition from the House of Aersoldorf, (I know it because I've been putting in lots of effort)
For the house shield, the House of Louisistan, is leading with 386 TGs per accelerator eligible account, with the House of Aersoldorf, being second.
As for the House Sceptre, our torchbearer, Escanaba didn't disappoint us with a recruitment success rate of 3.06%

It's table tabulation day again! As the house competition reaches the halfway point. There has been changes to the rankings as well. The House of Aersoldorf (Aersoldorf), takes the lead for the House Cup while The House of Wordy is still in the race as they are just 493 points behind. The House of Louisistan (Louisistan) is still leading in the House Shield although they might not be leading for long as The House of Aersoldorf is closing in on them. Meanwhile Escanaba is still holding tightly to the House Sceptre.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the House Cup and Shield competition for the month of September 2016 has now completed!



And to celebrate the ending of such a race, I would like to welcome you all back to the XKI Hall of Generations, the 10000 Islands ancient home to the Great Houses, for the award ceremony of the 10th House Cup & Shield competition.



This whole month has been full of ups and downs where we saw Escanaba holding the fort for the House of Wordy , muscling away challengers from the House of Aersoldorf for the first two weeks of the competition. Meanwhile, the House of Louisistan maintained consistent peformance to stay ahead for the House Shield competition. During the last two weeks, we saw a superb clutch performance by the House of Boltor . Similar to how the Kansas City Royals, whom always never fail to keep me watching their games through to the ninth inning. Overall, we saw one of the best House Competition hosted ever in recent times. So good job to all participants. I would also like to thank Minister of Immigration HumanSanity , and Louisistan for assisting me in organising my first House Competition.

For this time, the House Shield has seen one of the most intense competition, with many houses taking the lead at different times. However, the House of Boltor has prevailed, denying the House of Wordy from winning their 4th straight Shield. Great job to the House of Boltor for taking the House Shield!

Results for the 7th House Sceptre



This time, the House Sceptre goes deservingly to Boltor . I can say that it was due to his clutch performance that his house won the House Shield as well. As per the rules of the House Sceptre, Boltor  must agree to publish his recruitment TG in the Immigration Department sub-board. Also, 4.72% success rate is a region record I think.
