▇▇▇"Lockheed-Martin Sets up in new Fabrications Labratory for Deus Irae Project" ▇▇▇
After setting up yesterday in their new sponsored Fabrications Lab built in an undisclosed location near the Hoaten Valley, a spokesman from the aerospace giant admitted "We've got a lot of work ahead of us." He additionally noted "While the lab is set up to precisely manufacture components for this... rather unique project, it isn't designed to do so quickly. The interns are going to be putting in a lot of hours." Several engineers and programmers also stated that they are planning to take up residence in some of the towns nearby, where their work will be sent in on a very rigid schedule. Knight Commander Jiffad says that he hopes this project will "bring esteem, prosperity, and opportunity to our rather isolated nation." While the project has certainly garnered international attention, not all of it had been positive. A specific threat from North Korean Leader Kim Jong-Un made claims that their new perfected missile will be prepared for launch long before satatlite completion, and insinuated that such attacks may be deemed necessary by the Communist regime in the future. Admidst this uncertainty, the Knight Commander and Former President Schmidt, who still maintains political ties, sought international sanctions, which were granted. In addition to standard sanctions imposed, the United States also promised to send at least one submarine with intercontinental nuclear warheads. To further minimize the threat, Phase I of the project has been fast tracked to perfect the Iron Dome technology, which Lockheed-Martin hopes to license after the completion of the Deus Irae project, and has plans to create geostationary satallites to defensively position over national borders.
▇▇▇"The Libertarian Knighthood Embraces Agressive Economic Foreign Policy!"▇▇▇
After a national poll last Thursday over how best to secure international trade stabilization and world peace, the Knights have reconvened in Alexandria and announced the national response: security through force. While the decisions is hardly surprising, given the long tradition of personal armaments in the Libertarian Knighthood, the plan the Knights have come up with is "unconventional", says Alexandrian Knight Omar Jiffad. "We have elected to build an orbital space station, the first of it's kind. After securing scientific intelligence from several prominent allies and neighbors of the Knighthood, and having pieced them together, we are confident in the ability of Project Deus Irae to command respect, world peace, and free trade." The project, as appeared in the briefing room, is a 3 part set of orbital space station components designed to be launched separately over the course of a year. While the billion dollar investment was considerably over the yearly defense fund set aside for defense, the Knights managed to set aside funds for the project by justifying a quarter million from economic reinforcements, stimulus packages, and foreign investments from several nations mutually concerned with the interference of several counties, North Korea specifically being cited, as well as China under their "One-China" policy. Stated Knight Commander Jiffad: "The primary function of Project Deus Irae is the reassurance of peace and prosperity. While prohibited by international law from sending nuclear armaments to outer space, there is no provision for other types of orbital weaponry. Liscensing Israel's expiramental 'Iron Beam' missile defense system, we plan to begin construction of the defensively based Phase I, which we've affectionately termed 'Artemis'. We are also using Lockheed-Martin phototech, as used for their prototyped SR-72, used for Phase II, or "Hyperion". Hyperion will be the center point of the station, although it will be joining Artemis in orbit", says Jiffad. "Hyperion will utilize the phototech from Lockheed-Martin and join the polar orbit. This will allow the Deus Irae project to be over any place on earth within less 9 hours, taking high resolution photos in order to confirm troop movements." While Knight Commander Jiffad refused to comment on the final project stage, a reliable but as of yet unconfirmed source claims that Phase III, called "Zeus", will be armed specifically with some 100 smaller tungsten rods about the size of a forearm, designed as tactical warheads capable of leaving small neighborhoods and encampments, while also holding some 30 larger rods closer in dimensions to telephone poles capable of leveling cities. The rods are launched from preloaded cannons aboard the Zeus module. The cost of the station, however, will remain around $273 million, with an additional $492 million to be funded by fellow nations and private investors, who are being encouraged to buy in under the pretense of international economic security.
Earlier today, around noon, the governmental bodies of the Libertarian Knighthood peacefully and unanimously stepped down, giving their power instead to a newly formed anarchy. While this move has caused some panic across the nation, High Knight Alexander K. Schmidt made one final announcement, stating: "The institution of anarchy will not be total, and I have complete faith that the people will be capable of creating new social structures to protect themselves. Citizens should also remember that although the government has been dissolved, the Constitution of the Eternal Republic of the Libertarian Knighthood has not been struck out, and still remains in effect as a precedent for the people. Communities will have the choice to implement whichever laws they choose, or even to create new ones. This is an opportunity to restore power to the people, and if they choose to recreate governing bodies, then they shall have a clean slate on which to draw them up." When questioned further as to the roles of national government not filled previously by the states, Schmidt went on the record saying: "There are none. We have made sure of that both in historical instances and in more recent legislation. The states have been permitted to build up their armories, they have been placed in charge of welfare, and the people have been made as active in government as possible, that they may more fully understand its responsibilities." The Congressional House of the Knighthood urged states to preserve the tradition of the election of representative knights, in order to continue the capacity of the Libertarian Knighthood to participate in foreign affairs.
After the horrific nightclub shooting of Fruit Of The Loom in Ostando, along the pristine shores of the Bay of Revat, citizens of the Libertarian Knighthood are unsure as to what should be done to stop these atrocious hate crimes. While some religiously zealous citizens are claiming the Islamic terror attack to be the wrath of god, others are in upheaval, demanding that LGBT individuals be protected under the law. While the now dissolved High Judicial Court is no longer capable of ruling on the issue, citizens have set up a polling station in the center of town and are urging all residents to vote. Former Mayor Tavren Nightingale made a formal announcement earlier today, stating: "We are appalled by the violence committed here today, and plan tomorrow to determine as a community what shall be done to prevent such atrocities in the future." While some citizens called for greater gun control and tolerance of the sometimes stigmatized Muslim people, others called for less firearm regulation and greater checks on immigrants of Middle Eastern decent, or with ties to Islam. Said one Ramon Jestiez, father of six and overseer of "I'll be Dammed" public works contraction company, "I don't feel safe walking the streets any longer. I want to own a firearm but buying one to protect my family would put me under extreme economic hardship, even a cheap pistol is several hundred dollars! With the national government abolished, I finally have a opportunity to buy a firearm without paying additional taxes and registration fees. I'm proud of my son and his new husband, and I want them to feel safe when they come over for dinner. That's not so much to ask." Countering him was Jessica Smith, known Tumblr activist and self declared socialist: "I don't feel safe walking the streets any longer. I want to know no one on the streets have firearms. If we bring back the police force, THEY could hold the guns for us, and we could get back to blogging. Sure the gangbangers down at the corner of 7th street and MLK boulevard might be able to get guns illegally, but I live in Smoky Hills. I'm more concerned about by eccentric neighbor, always polishing his Mosin on the front porch. He'll take someones eye out one day!" While both sides carry massive support, we'll have to wait until tomorrow to see the outcome of the public poll.
