"In other news, today is election day, and all of Avalon City is curious to see who will be elected as the new Mayor. The Mayor is the deciding voice in all community tie votes, in the rare event of such an occurrence, and holds the power to pardon one citizen during the course of their term for a crime committed within the city limits, as we were all reminded when the previous mayor, Mayor Aersoldorf pardoned his chief of staff, Barry, after he robbed a liquor store. There is still time for citizens to throw their hats into the ring for consideration at today's poll.

Today there is no vote for lynching anyone, as it is a normal, happy day in the City of Avalon.

However, please vote for a Mayor. As described above, the Mayor decides ties and can pardon one person in the course of the game. Should the Mayor die, a new Mayor will be elected during the next day phase.

Normally, day phases will be 48 hours long, but today will only be 24 hours. Night phases will be 24 hours. The first night phase will begin 1 AM GMT Sunday April 9th.

Rules:
Do not post screenshots. The point is to be unable to trust anyone with absolute certainty, so it deflates the game somewhat to know what someone is for sure. (also, some of you have roles that will change later )
Inactivity will not get you kicked, but it will incur penalties. You must post in this thread at least every other day phase to avoid penalties. I will tag you and warn you after the first day you do not participate. You are not required to vote, only to post. But where is the fun if you aren't going to vote?
You may pm one another, but please include me on any conversations between players.
There shall be no editing of posts unless you are me. If you misspoke or if your tag of another player didn't work, just make a new post, do not alter the existing one.
I realize roles are usually described to the players on day 1, but I'll describe the baddies tomorrow, when the night phase starts, and then the heroes when the first day of lynching begins.

woops sorry i guess reading the entire rules as a text wall and not a list really hurt my ability to remember them or maybe im just dumb one of the two also you may add commas and dots while reading this so its actually understandable and if it isnt well then crap

"Our top story tonight, a celebration will be commencing shortly at the Mayor's estate in downtown Avalon in celebration of Mayor Tanzoria 's inauguration today after a close fought battle, narrowly beating out Dominion of Compassion , Alkasia , and Sauron , who all also had strong showings of support from the citizen of our Avalon City. We here at channel 5 wish Mayor Tanzoria all the best in his new position.

"In other news..."

"Now now, let's not more on too quickly there Connor. Hello, Avalon City! I'm... well you can just call me Alpha. Don't you ever think that life in the city can be boring? I do. So I thought, why not spice things up a little.

"So please, I'd like to invite you all to attend the Mayor's inauguration ball. I know my wolf pack will be in attendance. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

"What's a wolf pack, you ask? Let me tell you a little about them:

"I heard you were having a little firebug problem lately. It wasn't that hard to find the cause really, I don't know why your police and fire departments are having such a hard time of it. Meet Smolder, a little bit of a hot head, but his love for destruction is so fantastic. What can I say, some people just want to watch the world burn."

"The team needed a little star power, in my opinion. Meet Nemean. He deals in blackmarket acquisitions mostly, wanted by Interpol, Europol, FBI, and Mossad. He's not violent, in fact, he's as peaceful as a girl bits cat most of the time, but he sure knows how to fight. Rumor says he's never been caught because he he's unnaturally lucky. I don't know if I believe that, but perhaps he'll prove it."

"What's a team without a little homegrown crazy, huh? You oughta remember this guy, Pitfall for those too young to remember when he held the city in a state of terror 25 years ago. He's been in Eisner Penitentiary since and he never took off that mask the whole time. Strapped it to his head and wired it to blow if anyone tried to pry it off. Now that is my kinda crazy! Broke him out just for the occasion, I'm sure he's very excited to meet the new Mayor."

"And last, but certainly not least, my own protege, Hiatus. Hiatus is easily the most cunning calculating individual I've met, myself excluded of course. His training's complete and it's finally time to give him a test run.

"So here's my suggestion: Heroes of Avalon... and hero wannabes. Come out, come out, where ever you are! Tonight this city will know death. But if you try, you may be able to minimize the number of victims. But don't show up if you aren't willing to play the game. This is just the opening gambit, I assure you! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

It is now the first night phase. Anyone hero, villain, or civilian with a power that can be used at night, feel free to contact me now. This will run for 24 hours.

A little on the villains:

Smolder - If Smolder attacks someone who is being protected, there is small chance that he could kill both the protector and the intended target. Most of the time, if he attacks someone who is being protected his attack will be negated as usual.

Nemean - Nemean attacks like normal and is effectively a normal wolf.

Pitfall - Pitfall is an inventive evil genius who loves building death machines and giving people a chance to save the victim, like a cat playing with a mouse.

Hiatus - Hiatus can attack just like anyone else, but instead of attacking Hiatus can also choose to block other player's powers for one night phase.

Only one of them may act on any given night and the same wolf may not attack two nights in a row.

Heroes will be described in the morning. Players, please check your messages, you may have a new victory condition or even a new role. This is not an adjustment, this was planned and randomized when I randomized the original assignments.

I'm watching Connor Ryle (any relation to Gilbert Ryle?).  Congrats to Tanz.  I feel my Tanzpassion coming on again.  It's a relief to have a veteran politician at the helm.  Although I have some trepidation as I view this Alpha person.  A swft downing of my whisky and I resolve to be at the inauguration.  I fear a great burning.

"Good morning, Avalon. Marissa Calder here with breaking news. As promised by the mysterious figure "Alpha", the Mayor's inaugural ball last night was attacked by the members of the "wolf pack", scattering panicked guests into the streets. Though a number of party goers were injured, there was only one fatality. Louisistan , a local reporter for the well known interview site Persona.com, a site regularly under fire for alleged tabloid reporting, was cornered by the wolf known as "Smolder" and later died of severe burns.

"There have been no new messages from the shadow "Alpha" since his address last night leaving the public wondering..."

"If this was the end of it? Not. Even. Close.

"Well, it seems Avalon does have a few heroes out there, and I smell a war. There were three "heroes" at last nights smoking soiree, and one "hero" in particular I'd like to call out."

"Obviously there's Ceberus, a night stalking vigilante. Never liked this guy, I mean, why isn't anyone charging him with assault? He's a menace. Sure, he stops criminals, frankly, I'm all for that, less competition you see, but he's a rogue and deserves jail time every bit as much as some of the criminals he takes down." Tut-tut. "It's a shame when monsters get lauded as heroes...

"Then there's Deflector. Nice tech, I've got to admit, I'm a little envious. He should make his force fields available on the open market. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would love a little protection in case someone breaks into their homes. But no, he keeps it all to himself so be can play hero? Despicable!"

"Of course, everyone knows Inquiry the "Third Eye Private Eye". He's helped on hundreds of cases. Of course, that's easy when you can read minds... and you don't bother with warrants. The Constitution of our great nation protects us from "unlawful search and seizure". It applies to your home, your car, your browser history. Surely our own minds should be subject to his warrantless traipsing! And he never appears in public at all! Do we not have the right to face our accuser in a court of law?

"All three of these self-declared "heroes" showed up to my call last night, and so they shall be the true test of my new wolf pack. But, like I said there is one other so-called hero that deserves to be noted."

"Avalon City Police. In a city with more superpowered citizens per capita, they've had to make some adjustments for incarcerations to account for those of us with abilities, gifts. But do you know about their Power Containment Officer? He saps powers from anyone the courts deem dangerous using powers of his own. What gives him the right, that's what I want to know! Should we just go back to the dark days of cutting hands of thieves? Should arsonists like my dear Smolder be set ablaze? (like that would even work on him!) It's barbaric and inhumane.

"Try and stop us.  We're coming for your heroes."

It is now day 2, which will last 48 hours.  Starting today and for every day phase afterwards, you must elect someone to lynch, in an effort to find and kill the wolves.  You may not vote for "no lynch" or "abstain" in future votes.

A little more on the Heroes of Avalon:

Ceberus and Deflector - these are defenders, in the classic terminology of werewolves. Each night they can protect one person from harm. One of them is required to change who they are protecting each night, the other can protect the same person indefinitely.

Inquiry - Inquiry is the classic seer and can investigate one person each night, finding out their role. That person doesn't know they have been scanned.

Power Containment Officer - The PCO has the ability to dampen the superpowers of others for the rest of the game. His power has no ill effect on normal people, but can take away the powers of good guys too.




Gameplay continues until either all four wolves OR all four heroes are defeated. This is slightly different from normal because even if the wolves out number the rest of the citizens, there may still be time for some people to accomplish their victory conditions.
