Eighth Annual Paffnia Prize: The Winners

After a week of voting, I am pleased to award the eighth annual Paffnia Prize to Sargon Reman! With credit to everyone's contributions to the final proposal, Sargon Reman's idea for a World-Assembly-focused and -dedicated position is already strengthening the region's place in the WA, encouraging endorsements, and helping proposals get passed.

For the third year, TIC is also proud to present two more awards:

The Baden-Wuerttemberg Ruby Prize for second place is awarded to United Royal Islands! Building on her winning of the same prize two years ago for building the Mortimer Report spreadsheet and other improvements, URI has won it again for automating Mortimer Reports based on a shop purchase list thread template.

The Baden-Wuerttemberg Opal Prize for third place is awarded to Sargon Reman, the first-ever winner of more than one award in the same year. The World Assembly Secretariat Engagement Awards offer a new way to reward and incentivize Islanders for being active in the World Assembly and endorsements.

This year, the Paffnia Prize is a sum of 2,350,365 ! In addition, the Baden-Wuerttemberg Ruby Prize comes to 433,090 , and the Baden-Wuerttemberg Opal Prize comes to 216,545 , for a total of 3,000,000 altogether. The prize money will be sent along in the next few days.

Congratulations again to all the winners and nominees, and thanks again to Baden-Wuerttemberg for the idea for second and third prizes.

Keep coming up with and implementing new ideas, Islanders, and you could win next year's Paffnia Prize! In the meantime, be on the lookout for more TIC activities in the coming months.

[Sargon Reman]

I am truly honored to be only one of 8 distinguished nations to receive the Paffnia Prize and the 3rd place award with it. In the past the Paffnia Prize has gone to legendary nations such as Grub, Ananke and Woonsocket, who represent the absolute finest that our region has to offer.

First of all I would like to thank the co9 collectively for seeing the merit of the Secretariat and providing their own input on how to make it better for the Islands.

Second I would like to thank Haganham for his assistance as my Deputy so far in helping build the Secretariat that I envisioned.

While I pushed for the Secretariat that we have now, it is important for me to mention that the idea of having something similar to a WA Ministry or even a WA retention program is nothing new in the Islands. In fact, the original idea began long before I got here and even as far back as Grubs tenure as Chief Executive, but due to the wider agenda and other matters, a formal or full blown program was never fully implemented.

I am actually more proud of the achievement for the Islands now than I was when it was enacted a couple of months ago. By actually having a more democratic vote on the idea through this awards process, Islanders have shown that they have some faith in the Secretariat and that it will likely not have the fate of just being one more government program that was created by 9 nations in a private chamber. I would like to think that Islanders view the idea as something that will affect the prestige and standing of the 10000 Islands in a positive way for many NS years to come.

The reason I was behind the spearhead to make the current Secretariat reality, and later apply for the position, was because I felt that it was a huge eyesore that several GCRs and a rival raider UCR had their own well-spoken WA retention office and programs, but as the largest UCR we did not. I have always believed that directly or indirectly, the Islands should always make it a point of internal policy to assert itself in the international community because it has more to teach the NS world than the other way around. Through the Secretariat, the Islands can eventually achieve a higher voting count, WA authorship and prestige in the wider NS world through dominance among UCRs in the endeavors of the World Assembly. As the UCR elite I have no doubt we can pull it off, in a sense we already have!

I would like to assign 50,000 tacos of the award to Mingulay Isle for his current and future help in this area. This should be a handsome stipend compared to his meager Deputy salary

I would like to assign 250,000 tacos to be split equally among all current members of House Reman in honor of the ideas and service some of them have contributed to 10KI, as active participants in 10KI society. The designated members are:
Krystalveil , Haivon , The Tasmanian Islands , Na Kanaka Isles , The Soylent Green Party , Marroc and @thx1138 .

Their Founder also has a policy of occasional profit sharing in case you want to join!
