Gulliver's Travels
Overview and rules:
The Cultural Office and the Himes West Senator decided to host a joint event for every nation that has interests in writing and most importantly, role-playing. Therefore we came up with an idea that suits these: an activity that takes shape in a travelling journal written by, perhaps, the biggest and most important traveller from literature: Gulliver.
We want to see what you guys come up with and what you write having in mind that it must be written from Gulliver's perspective. Don't worry, you will have 3 weeks starting 1st of March to submit a journal page like the one you will see below.
You should have the following questions in mind when writing:
"- How do I travel? What are they using?
- What's their food like? What's special about it? Can I eat it? Or will it condemn me to suffering?
- What do they do for fun? Are they even funny?
- Where do people live? How beautiful is the architecture?
- Back to the creatures, how are the people? Are they nice? Polite? Smart?
- How are they organising themselves? Are they slaves to a more powerful entity?
- I visited many monarchies. But then also other nations. How is it here? Is it even stable and safe, or has the anarchy taken over their small brains?"
(extract from Gulliver's Journal)
The forum members will simply have to post their entry on this thread. On-site only members are welcome to participate as well, and can simply TG your written submission to HumanSanity on-site and they will cross-post it. However, you won't be eligible for our prize.
Each entry that comes from members registered on the forum will be entering into a lottery and one lucky writer will be receiving the following legendary card, www.nationstates.net/page=deck/card=900/season=2 - a long time contributor in Texas, which is 10KI's oldest alliance.
!! Please note that only those registered on the forum will enter the raffle! !!
Before I will show you what I have written, on behalf of the Cultural Office and Himes West Senator, I want to wish you good luck!
The one and only, Krystalveil

"I find people disgusting. These creatures show high levels of ignorance, they are highly uneducated and simply ugly. I hate the people who brought me back, I had a beautiful life in Houyhnhms. If they didn't want me, I wanted them...
I stay here in this stable and wonder: at what cost did I get to visit all these countries?
Lilliput
Blefuscu
Brobdingnag
Laputa
Glubbdubdrib
Luggnagg
Japan
Houyhnhms
They all are somewhat special and different, yet they all have similarities. Each had their rich and poor, masters and slaves, "angels" and criminals. None had a different ideal, despite one's from Laputa's minds, the abstraction of ideas became so suffocating, that even them had become prone to death. And when the mind dies, what's left from our body? Is it enough that we live, when our body decays? Luggnagg begs to different, as its inhabitants weren't happier than these strange creatures in England.
Now I sit and ask myself, can another travel make me feel better about humanity? Is there even a place where this notion is still valued and appreciated? I don't know.. And perhaps I don't have to know? As if this urge I have for knowledge hasn't already created enough problems..
I have decided! I will travel again. I want to find the country that can teach me how to be human again. I don't trust those bipedal creatures, but I need them for my own sake. They think I'm insane, but I just opened my eyes. Now it's their turn to do the same!
I cannot forget my travels. But I can write a different history for them. Why is humanity's narative so bad, when we can achieve so much more than what we have? The human nature is miserable. That's what I believe. We trash the others for our own benefits - I enjoy the company of horses. They do not judge. At least not the ones from England, as the Houyhnhms were nothing more than just masks of today's society.
I need to hope for a better future. I want to find the 1001 stories about the 10000 Islands of Hope. Not my own, but humanity's hope for survival.
Otherwise, like seen in my travels, we are on our way to destruction. And when we achieve this, the final act shall close the play that we've been playing for centuries: Human Life.

"I have been travelling for 300 years, yet none of the countries I have visited helped me with my quest. England's Empire fell, France surrendered to the germans and Vienna is no longer World's Music Capital... I don't dare to visit the land where dreams come true, as I believe there is nothing there, other than depraved creatures searching in vain for fame and money.
I still haven't figured what should I write about when I find these Islands. I have time...
I can't die. I'm old, but my body refuses to die. It's like I'm trapped between Heaven and Hell and there isn't a Lucifer to save me. I'm cursed to search for the Islands.

"Perhaps I should write about the humans. Or their inventions...
I'm now in an invention called plane. It flies like a bird, but you're trapped inside its body, mute and blind and deaf...
I figured I could answer these questions:
- How do I travel? What are they using?
- What's their food like? What's special about it? Can I eat it? Or will it condemn me to suffering?
- What do they do for fun? Are they even funny?

We shall see when I get there.. The small people can't think so much. It's just an endless process that I have no power to stop. The Islands must be found...

"I'm flying to a new country that has never existed before - the youngest nation - Krystalveil.
It was born at their Emperor's demand. He is turning 18 years today. He's patron is both Louis the 14th and God of Sun Helios/Apollo. He's not mad or crazy.. Just peculiar!
He is rich, so rich that he just demanded and the world submitted. He lives in a big palace in the capital - Lemon City. A capital built to impress. Despite its age, the buildings look old: Baroque, Art Deco, and only then, Modernism; wide streets with tall trees, parks almost everywhere, and then people.
They live in everything from villas to modern houses to tall glass towers. The elite of the elite has small palaces outside the city. They are everywhere. People...
2 billion people, more than 1 third in the capital city. They are everywhere, going fast and confident to their work - half of them at least.. Yet with so much unemployment, you would think there is a mass of homeless people and trash everywhere. But it's clean. There aren't any, as most of them have their lives assured by the state. They are happy and cheerful. I don't think they hate the others, but that wouldn't be needed, as the rich rarely hate the rich.
It's said that Krystalveil is home to the Elite. The smartest, richest people live here. And promote their culture. Museums everywhere, despite not having a rich history. They are interested in everything that has to do with International Artworks. They don't have their own, therefore they worship other artists. The same goes with music. They listen to everyone. All is imported. Nothing here is original!
They don't have any national dish. They love sweets, but nothing special. I think it's a metaphor as they seem to love lemons. Sweet and sour, together in a weird marriage, sharing a kiss that seems to be eternal. Is it though?
They don't believe in anyone. Religion is an abstract notion for them. They call it Secularism. I don't know what to say.. I don't judge humans. They are a lost cause. I am still looking for the horses, but here they love peacocks and cats... Pathetic...
I have decided to leave Krystalveil. An outstanding beauty, but nothing original, the people have money which gives them the chance to bring everything they want here...
When you have everything at your little finger, then why are you still walking the Earth? Isn't your life meaningless?
