Hello all, and welcome to the Red Court war. Let's get to it. Please feel free to ask questions. Also, please read the rules as I did make a small change from those I posted in the sign ups. It was made for the purposes of balance.
First the Good Guys. Generally speaking (unless the role description says otherwise) good characters win if the Red Court is wiped out.
The White Council:
* Harry Dresden, Wizard: Harry can scan a player each night using his Third Eye. At dawn he learns their role. There after he may make contact with that character via private messages.
* Warden Morgan, Wizard: Morgan may kill another player during the night phase. If he kills a non-wizard human, he loses his killing ability. Morgan is not content to rid the world of the current threat (the Red Court Vampires). Morgan only wins if the Necromancer and Thomas are both dead as well.
* Ebenezar McCoy, Wizard: Each night, Ebenezar chooses a player and prevents them from using their night action if they have one.
* The White Council DO NOT begin play knowing one another.
The Knights of the Cross:
* Michael, Shiro and Sanya (humans) wield holy swords. Each night, as a group, they may select a player to protect. If that player is attacked the same night, the attack is thwarted. If all three are alive (and not turned into vampires) they will kill the attacker. The Knights begin play knowing one another.
The Alphas:
* Billy and Georgia Borden (humans) are werewolves, but also lovely people. Each night, they can scan another player, but they only learn if that person is a vampire, a fairy, or a human. The Alphas begin playing knowing one another.
Other Good guys:
* Thomas Raith is a White Court Vampire who has sided against the Red Court. Thomas cannot be affected by nighttime powers.
* LT Karrin Murphy (human) is a police officer with the Chicago PD. If Karrin is killed at night, she will take her killer with her. If Karrin is killed by a lynch, that night she may select one of the people who voted for her death and kill them.
* Mortimer Lindquist (wizard) is a medium, he speaks to spirits. He starts the game as part of the afterlife thread. During the day phase he may post one question in the afterlife, directed at a specific player. That night they must answer. They are not required to answer honestly. (If you are dead and such a question is asked of you, please be a good sport and answer rather than pretending you aren't on.)
The Bad Guys.
The Red King is the leader of all Red Court Vampires. Their night powers take two nights to complete.
1. First, they infect someone. That player now wins with the Red Court, but retains any night power they have. They learn the Red King's identity and the Red King learns their role. The Red King cannot infect Harry or Thomas. If he targets them, both sides will learn the other's identity.
2. Second, he makes the infected kill another player of his choice. This turns them from an infected into a full Red Court Vampire. They will be removed from any private messages they are in and join the Red Court King in their own chat. They also lose any powers they previously had, with the exception of Kincaide (see below).
The Red King can only take ONE of these actions. If there are no infected, he only has the option to infect someone. If there is an infected, he cannot infect another until the first has killed someone. In effect, they alternate between infecting and killing.
The Red Court wins if Harry, Morgan and Ebenezar are all dead (or if they out number all other living players because it's just a matter of time at that point).
The Neutral Parties, i.e. the wrenches in the machinery, the flies in the ointment.
* Grevane the Necromancer (wizard) is only "neutral" in the sense that he doesn't care who wins the Red Court War. He wins at the end so long as he's alive and Harry Dresden isn't. Grevane may use the ability of any deceased player BUT to do so he must mention that player or their role the day before using it. For example, if I were Ebenezer McCoy and I died, Grevane could prevent another player from using their power for a night, so long as the day before he mentioned "Palman", "Ebenezar" or "McCoy".
* Gentleman Jonny Marcone (human) is a mob boss in Chicago. To win Marcone just has to be alive at the end, no matter which side wins. He doesn't use magic, but he can scan players at night just like Harry and message them afterwards just like Harry.
* Kincaide is a mercenary. When recruited (by Harry, Marcone, one of the Queens (see below) or the Red Court), Kincaide gains one kill. He may use it during the day or night, but if it's used during the day, his identity will be made public. Kincaide, like Marcone, wins so long as he survives.
The Fairy Queens:
* Queen Mab of the Winter Court and Queen Titania of the Summer Court are literal forces of nature. On day one, they may choose one other player, in secret, to act as their Winter and Summer Knights, respectively. The knights learn the identity of their Queen, but gain no extra powers. If a night action would kill the Queen, the Knight dies instead. If the Queen would be lynched, the Knight dies instead. The Queens win if they survive. But the Balance of nature is precarious. If the game ends and the courts are unbalanced (only one queen lives or only one queen still has her knight) everyone loses.
Have I made life complicated enough?
RULES (Please read, one of them changed):
Day phases will last 48 hours except the first day which will last only 24. Night phases will last 24 hours.
No mayor will be elected. If there is a tie for lynch votes, no one is lynched.
Votes to lynch no one are allowed on any day.
To reduce the chances I miss your vote, all votes should have a line by themselves like so:
Editing posts is forbidden. I will be inclined to be creative with my retribution.
Any player who fails to post in consecutive day/night phases (i.e. 72 hours without posting) will be replaced, provided I have replacement volunteers.
Private messages are NOT permitted, unless you started off knowing one another, or your rule above says you may message people (like Harry or Marcone). I DECIDED TO CHANGE THIS FOR BALANCE REASONS.
