Here we go, here's the game thread. Day 1 (the 24 hour one), will start at 8 PM EST today. So without further ado, here are the roles:
The Order of the Phoenix. They win if all Death Eaters are dead.
-Harry Potter: Harry Potter survived an attack on his home by Voldemort when he was just a baby, though his parents did not. He received a lightning bolt-shaped scar, and his mind was linked to Voldemort's. For this reason, Harry can also speak to snakes, like the Basilisk, in Parseltongue. Using these abilities, every night, Harry can see a single post in the Death Eaters chat that had been made in the previous day/night. He will not be able to see the context of the post, nor the poster's identity or role.
-Ron Weasley: Ron Weasley is one of Harry's best friends and closest allies, they became instant friends when they first met on the Hogwarts Express, and he is a brave, loyal friend. Ron comes from an age-old wizarding family, however, they are not as rich or arrogant as the other families, and Ron constantly has to use old, half-broken, hand-me-downs for things such as wands. Every night, Ron can choose to follow one person, and if they are attacked, Ron will sacrifice himself to save the person he was following.
-Hermione Granger: Hermione Granger is another one of Harry's best friends and closest allies. Despite her Muggle parents, Hermione is an extremely talented wizard, likely the most talented student in her class. Every night, she can cast a protective spell against dark magic, Protego Horribilis, on anybody (including herself), and they will be protected from any Death Eater actions for that night.
-Neville Longbottom: Neville Longbottom is similar to Harry in the sense that both of their parents were attacked, either killed or rendered insane, and they, as babies, had to be raised by relatives. While Neville may be timid and shy, when it comes down to it, he will do what is necessary to see Voldemort defeated. Throughout the course of the game, Neville can kill one player whom he suspects is on the Death Eater team.
-Luna Lovegood: Luna Lovegood is a quirky, but friendly, Ravenclaw. When Harry, Ron, and Hermione fail to show up for their seventh year at Hogwarts when they choose to continue to hunt for Voldemort's Horcruxes, Luna leads a small, covert resistance against the Death Eater-controlled school. Every night, Luna can follow a player, and distract them. If she distracts them, that player cannot complete their night action.
-Professor Dumbledore: Professor Dumbledore is the wise, sage-like headmaster of Hogwarts. Knowing who Harry is and what he will eventually have to do, Dumbledore makes it his personal mission to watch over Harry and find a way to defeat Voldemort. Each night, Dumbledore can use his pensieve to learn the alignment of any given player, and can choose to contact that player via a PM, but only the same night as he scanned that player.
-Sirius Black: Sirius Black was James Potter's closest friend, and when he learned that Peter Pettigrew betrayed the Potters to Voldemort, he confronts Pettigrew, and nearly killed him before Pettigrew faked his death and escaped. Afterwards, Sirius was arrested and sent to Azkaban. Sirius Black is an Animagus, and he can transform into a black dog. Every night, Sirius can select a player to watch, and he can see what action that player commits.
-Snape: Despite his cold exterior and connections with the Death Eaters, Snape is a loyal member of the Order of the Phoenix, and especially loyal to Dumbledore. Snape plays the role of a double agent, he pretends to be a member of the Death Eaters, and even earns Voldemort's trust, yet all the while, he reports everything to Dumbledore. Once throughout the course of the game, Snape can "infiltrate" the Death Eaters, and learn the identity of one of the Death Eaters (the learned identity is random). Snape must wait until the third night phase to use this ability.
-Lupin: Remus Lupin was a close friend of James Potter, Harry's father. In Harry's third year, he teaches Defense Against the Dark Arts, but then is fired after the incident where he is revealed to be a werewolf. As a child, he was bit by Fenrir Greyback, a prominent werewolf and Death Eater, and became a werewolf, a condition which has no cure. When he went to Hogwarts, he eventually told his friends that he was a werewolf, and they became Animagi to keep him company when he was. Every three nights, Lupin becomes a werewolf, and randomly kills one person.
-Professor McGonagall: Professor McGonagall is one of the lead professors at Hogwarts, and she is the Professor in charge of Gryffindor. After fighting Snape out of Hogwarts once Harry returned, McGonagall took charge, and capably led the defense of Hogwarts. The first time McGonagall gets attacked by a Death Eater, she kills the attacker. If she gets attacked a second time, though, she dies.
Death Eaters. They win if they kill all members of the Order of the Phoenix, or have a majority of players on their side.
-Voldemort: Voldemort, He Who Shall Not Be Named, is the Dark Lord and the leader of the Death Eaters. Each night, Voldemort can kill one player. All Death Eaters have a PM together. Just as Harry can see one post in the Death Eaters PM through their mind connection, Voldemort can do the same with Harry. Every night, Voldemort can also see one post made in any PM in which Harry is a member.
-Bellatrix Lestrange: Bellatrix Lestrange is Voldemort's top lieutenant, and interestingly, she is also a member of the Black family. Bellatrix is also a legandarily skilled duelist, widely recognized as having "prodigious skill". She was exceedingly talented in most other areas as well. During one night phase throughout the game, if Voldemort is still alive, Bellatrix can commit another kill, meaning the Death Eaters would kill two people that night. If Voldemort dies, Bellatrix gains the ability to kill one person a night, but she cannot then use the previous extra kill ability.
-Lucius Malfoy: Lucius Malfoy is the patriarch of a prominent wizarding family, the Malfoys, and he is a firm believer in the Dark Lord's ideology that Purebloods are superior, and that Muggles live to serve wizards. He once slipped a Horcrux of Voldemort, the diary which the Dark Lord kept as a student, into Ginny Weasley's bag, controlling her mind and forcing her to open the Chamber of Secrets, unleashing the basilisk. Every night, Lucius can change the alignment of any player for the rest of the night. Lucius will not know the real or new alignment of the selected player, only that their alignment has been changed. If Lucius targets a neutral player, their alignment will be changed to Death Eater.
-Peter Pettigrew: Peter Pettigrew was one of James Potter's close friends, along with Sirius and Lupin. However, unlike those two, Peter betrayed the Order of the Phoenix, and told Voldemort the location of the Potters. While he may regret how his life turned out, he is very devoted to Voldemort. Peter is also an Animagus, and he can transform into a rat at will. Each night, Peter can transform into a rat, and he can spy on one player a night, and he can learn what night action they commit that night.
-Dementor: The Dementors are the guards of the Prison of Azkaban, and while technically on the side of the Ministry of Magic, Voldemort easily sways them into joining him, promising them plenty of souls to feast on, which is how they feed. Each night, the Dementor can visit somebody and steal their night ability, which also prevents that player from using their ability. The next night, the Dementor has the ability to use that power. The Dementor cannot steal another power until they use the one which they had previously stolen.
-The Basilisk: The Basilisk is a beast belonging to the long-dead Salazar Slytherin. After the latter's death, the Basilisk slept, awaiting the return of its master or his heir. Now that Voldemort, the heir of Salazar Slytherin, approaches, the Basilisk has awakened. If the Basilisk is visited at night, by a non-Death Eater, the Basilisk immediately kills that person. This includes Luna, the action-blocker.
Neutral Players. They have different win conditions, and aren't necessarily on any one's side.
-Draco Malfoy: Draco Malfoy is Harry Potter's archenemy at Hogwarts, but when he becomes a Death Eater by way of his father, Lucius, Draco quickly becomes disillusioned about being a Death Eater, and he hesitates to kill Dumbledore, forcing Snape to do it. Draco wins the game if he is alive at the end, and if Harry Potter is dead.
Dolores Umbridge: Dolores Umbridge loves teaching young witches and wizards, but only in the methods and teachings approved by the Ministry of Magic. Umbridge despises Dumbledore and his occasionally unorthodox methods, and believes that she would make a much better Headmistress than Dumbledore. Umbridge wins at the ends of the game if both Professors Dumbledore and McGonagall are dead.
Beasts of the Forbidden Forest (4): The Beasts of the Forbidden Forest just want to live peacefully in the Forbidden Forest, but as the Battle of Hogwarts approaches, they may just have to choose a side. Four players will play as the Beasts, whose game identities will be Firenze (Centaur), Aragog (Spider), Bane (Centaur), and Karkus (Giant). The four Beasts have a PM together, and they start out neutral. However, if one of the beasts get lynched, the Beasts will join the Death Eaters, but will not have access to the Death Eaters PM. If a Beast gets killed at night, though, the Beasts will join the Order of the Phoenix.
Once again, the rules:
-Role reveals are strictly prohibited.
-Day phases will last 48 hours except the first day which will last only 24. Night phases will last 24 hours.
-No mayor will be elected. If there is a tie for lynch votes, no one is lynched.
-No lynch votes are allowed on any day
-To ensure I see your vote, it should be on its own line, and bolded
-Editing posts is forbidden.
-Any player who fails to post after two day phases and one night phase will be inactivity lynched, or replaced if we have any extra players.
-PMs not created by me are forbidden. YOU DO NOT NEED TO MAKE A PM IF YOUR ROLE PERMITS THAT, I WILL MAKE THE PM.
This is my first WW game, so apologies if it's not that good
