General Assembly Resolution #486 “Prevention Of Forced Sterilisation” (Category: Civil Rights; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Recognising that Article 2 of GA#486 forbids "the sterilisation of any individual without their informed consent given free from external material incentives, subject to [standing WA] legislation,"

Concerned that governments which may have a legitimate interest in sterilising rapists (for instance) cannot do so under Article 2,

Absolutely outraged that Article 3b of GA#486 merely orders members to "reasonably punish" perpetuators of sterilisations that were "illegal at the time of [their] occurrence under World Assembly law" without defining what a reasonable punishment is,

Horrified at the multiple spelling errors, including references to "non-legally competent peope," scattered throughout the resolution, and

Noting that a superior proposal to outlaw forced sterilisation is currently being drafted, and will be brought to the attention of delegates after the passage of this repeal...

I'm against this

The repeal lists three arguments and the author is offering a replacement.

First, the argument about sterilization as punishment for a crime. This argument does not make sense to me and is barbaric and represents a fundamental misunderstanding of why people commit crimes such as rape and sexual assault. The idea that sterilization might prevent that kind of violence in the future is a misunderstanding of these being crimes of control and exercising control within power imbalances to take away another person's autonomy. Sterilization is not a solution to that, and allowing exceptions for punishment for crime will only result in race and class-based discrimination through policing.

Second, the argument about reasonable punishment. The line of the repeal seems to indicate they want people who perform illegal sterilizations to be excessively punished. But there's no such provision in the repeal...

Third, the spelling errors alone are insufficient to solve the problem.

Also, saying your own draft of a repeal is "superior" in the text of the repeal is kinda arrogant
