For anyone not in the loop, ATA=A Taco Archipelago, our RP region
Just a place to discuss what you feel about the current state of ATA, suggestions for rules, and just talk. I’ll start off with a question: How do you feel about the current ATA rules?

TECHNICALLY, krystal is still kinda weak. Haivon is stronger, but still was an example of how wars with one side not realizing that all hope is lost makes ATA wars annoyingly lacking in substance.

I feel like the wars should be longer. They come up in minutes and are done in minutes.
Looking at it, it seems welcoming until you read into the rules.
The high SA requirement basically locks out most countries with a high primitive stat along with those who are the top 20% for information technology.
Then there's the whole business of FT only, which further cuts down any possible participants and restricts creative freedoms... Even if it's a suggestion (or treated as such) anyone who isn't FT would only expect to be rolled over inside of the week without resistance. A rather hostile environment, really, with small circles or groups forming within the closed community that basically offers no real enjoyment for a newcomer unless they find a way to shove themselves into one of such groups.
But this is just from me browsing around on ATA and noting posts, not exactly cherry-picking data since I am summarizing what I read, glossing over specific interactions.
I don't get it either, most RPs on NS don't exactly rely on stats so specific and niche as Scientific Advancement. Most of the time they instead rely on factbooks and dispatches, using population as a loose estimate for things like military strength or policies to judge a country beyond the obvious tech level tags (ergo, a past tech nation should be a monarchy or somewhat in line with that, along with some policy against technology to further the "immersion")... Granted, hardly anyone pays attention to policies anyways.

I would actually second using factbooks and dispatches. It would give much more detailed nation overviews than just dispatches of the name of the technology, and then under it, "WIP". I think policies shouldn't be considered though, it's kinda too limiting.
