So the celebrations of recent positive Mortimer Reports caused a lot of celebrating around the Islands, as people were happy that their wallets were fat with tacos. A good proportion of these celebrants were miners by trade, and a couple of them spent the night partying in local bars and taverns. They staggered out into the hills that surround some of our Island towns, and tripped and fell into an open mine, where they passed out for the evening. When they woke up, with splitting headaches and swirling stomachs, they discovered that they had knocked down the entrance to a side shaft in the mine. Going in there with their headlamps on produced a lot of bluish-red reflections. They determined the reflections were from a bunch of red rocks that 10000 Island miners had generally ignored in the past. One of them picked up a few of the stones on a lark, and had them assayed as a joke. Much to her surprise, what came back from the assayer was that they had discovered some of the richest deposits of flawless rubies ever found. The Ruby Rush of '21 was on - and deposits of these rubies were found all over the Islands.
