The Democratic Republic of Kananji
Nation information and story line
Overview
Kananji is a large, mostly-plains island located southwest of Hawaii. It is roughly twice the size of Spain, and is home to one of the most organized and powerful militaries on the planet (more on this later). Formerly the nation of Willani, which was located on the Australian continent. They were forced out of their home by Leahrocind, a Germany-originated nation, around 700 AD. They bought the island off of China, and built what is now modern Kananji.
History and Geography
Kananji has participated in many major global conflicts, such as the World Wars and the American Revolution. From ~700-1800 AD, Kananji was ruled by monarchy. After the events of the American Revolution, the current king of Kananji wrote a law requiring the leader to be chosen by the people. The title "King" was still kept, because people wanted to keep up with original Kananji tradition, and the name never really changed. Overtime, the governing system evolved into what we have today (more on that later)
The Kananji consists of 1 main island, which is roughly 1483 miles long and 1237 miles wide, and 2 smaller islands. The island located to the southwest is occupied by the Kananji Military Headquarters, and the island to the northeast is owned and run by a tourism company who built a hotel and resort there. There is a large river that runs through the mainland that is approximately 1256 miles long. Below is a full map of Kananji:
Kananji Political System
The modern political system is somewhat based on the American system of checks and balances. There are 3 branches of the main government, and there are also regional governments.
Political Regions
There are 5 five political regions of Kananji, each individually run by a group of Senators and Polititians. Each region has it's own set of rules and laws, but these laws must follow any national laws made by the King. Below is a map showing where each political reigon is.
Regal Branch
The regal branch consists of the King of Kananji. Every six years, a new King is elected. The electing process consists of people first voting on a senator from their reigon to run as a candidate (only 1 candidate per reigon). Then, there is a second voting period where the top 2 candidates are voted on. All the people of every reigon vote on one candidate who will be their king. The King passes any proposals that come his way, and can request a proposal to be written by people from the Excecutive Branch. He also appoints Executives and can request a repeal of a previous proposal.
Conciliator Branch
The Conciliator Branch consists of judges from the 5 political sectors of Kananji, and are elected by people of that sector. The Conciliators keep The King in check and ensure that any laws/legislation or law/legislation repeals passed align with the wants of the people and are for the good of the country. The Conciliators can also run a vote to remove The King from office. The process of removing a king from office first goes by a vote with other Conciliators, than a vote from the people of Kananji.
Executive Branch
The Executive Branch consists of politicians who specialize in certain political areas, listed later. Executive draft proposals for The King to sign and approve. The Executives are appointed by The King and specialize in either Economics, Culture & Environment, International Relations, Education, Public Safety & Welfare, and Security (A.K.A. Head of Military). A member of The Executive Branch can also submit a proposal to remove a Conciliator from office. The proposal is voted on by the people from the political reigon said Conciliator came from.
Kananji Military
The Kananji Military is one of the strongest in the world, with over 3.4 million active soldiers and 750,000 active personel. The Kananjian Army has 4 divisions, each with it's own purpose and skill-set.
Infantry: The infantry consists of groups of soldiers, divided into 5 classes: Assualt, Shotgunner, Support, Medic, and Sniper. Each has its own unique weapon loadout and skillset. Soldiers are divided into Squads, Companies, and Regiments. Squads contain 1 of each soldier class, companies have 10 squads, and regiments have 20 companies.
Squad Loadouts:
Assault: M4a1, M1911.
Shotgunner: R870, M1911
Support: M60, M1911, Lots of spare ammo
Medic: MP5, M1911, Advanced First Aid Kit
Sniper: Steyr Scout, Desert Eagle.
Supplemental
Kananji focuses on the idea of comradery, and that you fight and work better alongside your friends than strangers. When joining the army, soldiers have a chance to transfer to different squads that may contain people they know. This lasts for about 3 months, then they're semi-permanently stuck with their current squad.
There's also a unique numbering system used, that uses the regiment number, then company number, then squad number, then unit number. For example, Company 8-15 (Regiment 8, Company 15)
Squad 8-15-2 (Regiment 8, Company 15, Squad 2)
Unit 8-15-2-3 (Regiment 8, Company 15, Squad 2, Unit 3)
Royal Guard: Armed with M14 rifles and Hi-Power pistols, these soldiers wear royal-blue uniforms and protect The King of Kananji, members of the Executive Branch, and Kananjian Conciliators. When major global conflicts arise, some are sent to the battlefield, although not many and not often.
Special Forces: Armed with a G36 with a suppressor, vertical grip, laser, and Mini Red Dot Sight, and a USP. The Special Forces go through a more rigorous training program than the typical soldier, and receive more funding so they can have better weapons. The soldiers are deployed on high-priority missions or in high-danger areas.
Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU): The Anti-Terrorism unit is armed with an MP7 and Berretta M9. They focus on protecting the homeland and preventing/dealing with mass terrorism attacks.
