I remember catching crawfish...or crayfish...or crawdads, depending on which cousin I was talking to.

The very first "fish" I caught as a little boy was a crawfish. It crawled up my line and I let out a scream at what I thought was some kind of lake monster. My Dad darn near fell out of the boat laughing. True story.

PS: We lived in the foothills of the Ozarks in southern Missouri then. We called them crawfish, too.
