Match 2:
IFK Göteborg vs. Richfield Rainbow Warriors
Ullevi stadium, Gothenburg, Sweden
They say this time a year, facing any northern-european team will be tough, despite that the teams are usually pretty bad when compared to their southern cousins. The grass field of Ullevi wasn't exactly perfect, as is to be expected at this time of year, but at least the pitch wasn't synthetic grass, as some swedish teams chose to play on. Ullevi is the largest arena in scandinavia, with an all-seated capacity of 43,200. About 25,000 people had showed up for the event despite the cold weather, making the stadium look a bit empty, while there were still enough people there to make some noise.
Referee Carlos Moreno blew his whistle, and the game was kicked off. This was a very uneven game on paper and turned out to be very uneven on grass as well, with the first ball flying past IFK's keeper Bengt Andersson in the seventh minute of the game. During the first half hour or so, the game looked pretty much the same, Richfield Rainbow Warriors had most possession of the ball, a staggering 67% at this point, and were free to do pretty much what they liked with it, but due to good defending from IFK's side, so far, no more goals were scored. IFK Göteborg's midfielder Håkan Mild was given a yellow card in the 27th minute for a tackle that wasn't too neat. In the 39th minute of the game Richfield Rainbow Warriors scored again, this time on a header that was part of the follow up after a corner, in the goal, one could see that Andersson was beginning to look pretty grumpy and yelled some things at his own defenders. Despite numerous chances for the away team, the first half ended 0 - 2 to the visitors. IFK only had one real oppurtunity, a long shot by Stefan Selakovic that flew right into the hands of the opposing keeper.
As the second half kicked off nothing but a continuation of the Rainbow warriors' dominance was to be expected. The Rainbow Warriors made three substitutions before the second half, IFK being content with doing only one, George Mourad walked off the pitch as Marcus Berg walked in, this proved to be a wise decision. Berg rejuvenated IFK's attacking strength, and the reward was a goal that came in the 57th minute, a freekick from medium distance. This in turn rejuvenated the game, and IFK struggled to equalize. For a couple of minutes it looked as if they might succeed, but in the 69th minute The Rainbow warriors scored yet another goal, and that, in effect, killed the game. The rest of the game was pretty much The Rainbow Warriors controlling a tired IFK that had already given up. The rainbow warriors scored yet another goal in the 90th minute, deciding the final score:
IFK Göteborg 1
Richfield Rainbow Warriors 4
