Ministry of Morale

We should have a ministry whose entire job is to keep people's spirits up! We've got people that recruit, and we've got people that inform. Now let's get people that keep'em here!

If this ministry is put into place, I nominate ALEN because of the constant threads he's created that have had so much success and response from so many people.

And the cookies! People love cookies!

Yeah, but what exactly would the job include? I mean, ALEN can't go around posting threads like:

Yaaaaaaaaay, 10000 Islands is our man, if this region can't do it, no region can! Yaaaaaaaay....

OK, I can picture him doing this, but what would he actually be doing? Organizing activities for the region or introduction courses for incoming nations?

I think it's a great idea. I have recruited so many people who have left because they don't want to do anything with TITO or even the UN that it started to get on my nerves.

I figured it was my duty to entice people to stay, and I've kept up relations with twenty or so nations who I can hardly keep track of. I still do, just by their flag or motto or national animal, but nation names are tough if you get four telegrams an hour saying "let's trade" or "let's be friends!"

I would fully support the idea of a Ministry of Morale, however I would not be able to partake in it, as my recruiting duties will keep me quite busy.

I was thinking that maybe activity organization could be looked into, as well as conversation starting. Whenever there is dead space, people could post something to make sure everyone is involved.

We've had a few nations leave recently because they had 'better offers' and other things like this. If we can find a way to make everyone, or at least a lot more of the people involved regularly, our numbers would stop dropping as drastically as they have over the last few days.

;D lol Naoi you're always so jolly-enthousiastic, you've infected me......I'm certainly in for this!
But who'll run this ministry again, ALEN or Naoi? Cause I would reallyreally like to help you guys, if you don't mind. And as I said earlier, I was thinking about perhaps introduction courses/activities for new nations, just by telegram. Cause you see quite some nations writing on the forum that they don't know what to do except handling issues and ruling their nation (lol I don't see my Prime-Minister begging for more, but eh ).
And also, we do have to stimulate participating on this forum. That's the most important bit, because ever since I do this, I know that, nuh-uh, I'm never gonna move to another region; you really get (positively) sucked into it lol. It does gonna get hard though, cause when you look at the threads and posted messages, you see always the same nations. I think it's because of that that they are more shy; I know I was!
So what we can do about it, is, as I mentioned, introduction courses and, as Naoi said, muchmuch more activities. And perhaps some online (ICQ, MSN) discussions?

And if perhaps it does come into play, I don't think it will be a very exclusive thing. Nobody would really be in charge of it because we wouldn't want to limit the power of anyone's suggestions. But if we were to put someone in charge, I'd have to say ALEN because I've noticed that a lot of his posts have brought up attention, and that's what gave me this idea in the first place!

So let's start woking of a final draft for this. We'll need an outline of what we hope to accomplish and the duties each member of the department will perform. Anyone wanna help start this thing?

Yeah, sure, I'm in for that. Ideas until now:

-gameforum / sport events
-introduction courses by telegram
-events in regional holidays (?)
-conversation startings/fillings -> making new funthreads

But how would you try to get nations to be active if they aren't active? I mean, you can't just start a conversation with someone who's never active, right?

I think we should include sports events, and I don't just mean the football league, but perhaps we could have more leagues as well. The olympics perhaps? I was discussing that with Tachbe before he left.

ALEN, every nation is worth the shot. If we selectively recruit, we're going to get an even lower turnout. Sometimes by recruiting a nation effectively, we give them a new spark that makes them wants to be active. Personal invitations often makes nations want to be active, and I have seen that every nation I converse with personally is eager to join the activity in the forum.

All in all, urban sprawl, cutting back on the number of invitations a recruiter sends out will only reduce the number of nations that actually come. If they come for a while then leave, it's better than not even inviting them. They still have the option to leave if they're going to be active, so regardless of how we continue to recruit, we will still continue to lose nations.

The best thing to do now is to send more, not less, invitations. Our numbers should start to climb like they used to at the beginning of April.

Update: I only recruit UN nations, or nations who have applied to join the UN. UN membership often bolsters a spark in the nation, and motivates them to become active. Also, this way, they can join TITO by the end of the next day.

An official request for a Ministry(Department) of Morale:

In order to promote a higher level of morale on behalf of the people of 10000 Islands, inhance the integration of newcoming nations, and to insure the happiness of all willing nations, I propose a Deparment of Morale.

The Goals of the Morale Department are to keep a warm and fun flow of the works in 10000 Islands. The Morale Department will take some work from the hands of the Immigration and Education Departments, making it so that it is no longer their job to keep new nations entertained.

The main goal of the Morale Department is to insure regional harmony, and to encourage all members of 10000 Islands to participate actively.

The duties of the Morale Department are first and foremost, to maintain a positive vibe throughout the region, and to do the best in their powers to keep all willing nations active in open discussion, as to create a positive atmosphere for all member nations.

The Morale Department will, with the consent of any willing nations, plan regional activities and holidays. In the case of "dead air" on the forums, conversations will be started, or word games of sorts.

With the help of both the Education and Immigration Departments, the Morale Department will insure that new nations feel welcome, and that they enjoy their stay on 10000 Islands.

This draft is final, and may never be. As time goes on, as I become less tired, and as better ideas are drafted, this Department Description may or may not change, but not to the extent of invading on the duties of other Departments, unless of course these Departments are okay with it.
