I am here to relay the official quarterly economic report of the 10000 Islands. This report has been complied by an old time economist who lives in our isles and is only known by the name Mortimer.
July 2008 - While the population in the region remained relatively the same, the 10000 Islands has seen an overall increase in population over the last third of the quarter. This increase, coupled with a positive outlook for our immigration and increasing business prospects, has made this quarter a good one.
Capitals:
Many nations have improved their island nations by building capitals. With a capital comes national respect both internally and externally. A net profit of 1,000
was gained from all nations with a capital.
Farming:
The weather in the 10000 Islands was outstanding during this past quarter and crops were abundant. Farmer's markets are opening all over the region and people tend to be eating more. All farms had a profit of 6,000 this quarter.
Mining:
A new technique for mining was discovered recently by the nation of Bletheropolis. This technique shared by Bletheropolis and its use became widespread this quarter. This new technique has directly led to the discovery of diamonds in many nations. Unfortunately, we have had a large increase in earthquakes in the region. Scientists are not quite sure if these two things are related. Each mine produced 9,000 in profit this quarter.
Shipping:
With an upturn in the economy, shipping prospered. Several new routes were set up between our island chain and the TITO Knights Islands. Each shipping fleet produced 4,000 in profit.
Factories:
Factories are currently the hardest and most costly to build on the 10000 Islands map. With an increase in demand, factory production increased this quarter. Each factory made 10,000.
