Statement on Serconean Government Website
The Republic of Serconea formally invites all nations to a Regional Conference to be held in Harabjar, Serconea on 26 July-1 August 2004.
This will be held on the cruise ship SS Prince Alexei and aims to provide a friendly discussion forum for the nations of 10,000 islands to discuss problems affecting them.
The programme is:

Countries wishing to attend should notify the Prime Minister of Serconea with information about who they are sending and their security details. This will then be approved by the Internal Security Minister and is for reasons of space more than anything. The ship will be well guarded by air, sea and land patrols.

the guildmaster, mark poolan will be attending, representing the trade federation party as well as new age guilds. we have much to tell you, especially about the creation of the second branch of the tfp. the only security will be his pet gold stripped tigers, flash and dazzle

IC: Two Sheynati delegates will attend, Ahmed Akbar, an Arab Muslim, and James Reed, a Scots-Irish Protestant, one to represent each of Sheynat's major religious/ethnic groups. Security will be minimal-two security agents per ambassador. Further, the President of Sheynat will also attend. Security will be tighter, but not oppressive-eight security agents.

The Internal Security Ministry is interested in the Lord Protector's requirements and also wishes to know how many are in a company of Guardsmen before agreeing.

The Grand Prince insists that the Lord Protector be bathed, for the curtosy of the other guests (he hasn't bathed in 3 months.) As for a company, that is 160 men, if I am correct? If needed, less men can attend, maybe a tenth that size.

Prime Minister Hunter looked at the list of people coming. It wasn't many, but they could have some fun and interesting discussion.
He looked at the Sercon City Times. The People's Party leader, Nikolai Carter, was calling the Conference a waste of money. He smiled. Old Nikolai was just carrying on as usual.

His wife, Sara, the Foreign Affairs Minister came in.
"So, Stefan, how are you going to play this?"
"By taking the limelight and keeping the President's appearances as brief and as non-controversial as possible. The last thing I want is him insulting someone".

OOC: Indeed. We'll focus on the meals and evening events rather than the discussions during the day.

Prime Minister Hunter decided to make a short address.

"Ladies and gentleman, your excellencies, I would like to welcome you to the first Regional Conference. We will make a minute statement describing our nation.

Serconea is a democratic country, with high mountains in the north-west and a large gambling industry.

We also are very religious, with Catholicism as our state religion, but others are allowed.

Our defence posture is that we are not warmongers but we will defend our friends and ourselves if we are attacked.

We are also the only nation I am aware of with a chat show host as our President.

Who wants to go next?"

The Grand Prince stood up.

"Hello. My name is Sarthui Parthinis I. I am the Grand Prince of Parthini, and this is Rohger Parthinis, my elder brother. He is the Lord Protector of Piratic."

"We are a democratic nation with a Tribal Parliament representing the people. I, as Grand Prince, represent the Grand Royal City, Parathis, and hold a seat on the Parliament. I am also the Generalissimo of the Grand Royal Navy, which protects the interests of Parthini throughout the world."

"My brother here rules over Piratic in a semi-democratic fashion. He rules the fleet of Privateers in the Parthinian Archipelago." Several members of the crowd gasped at the word 'Privateer.'

"We are proud of our strong military, strong economy, and strong faith. We utilize the Uranium mines to the north of the main island. We also have strong IT companies along the southern coast of the island."

"Finally, I have announced that I am now looking for a suitable wife to produce an heir to the Parthinian Domain." The Prince winked at a crowd of young women sitting in a corner.

"Thank you."

[Beta Aurigae VII]

Stanley stood up and began his address to the conference.

"Ladies and gentlemen, delegates, and of course princes I am Stanley Molotov the governor general of Beta Aurigae VII and this is my top ambassador Sergei Polstov.

Beta Aurigae VII is a nation of strong morals and equally strong nationalism.

Our people are proud to have a rubust military and economy.

We are not aggressive by nature but we are always willing to help a nation in trouble.

Thanks."

One of the smaller contigents of the forum rises to speak next. Being a small and new nation of only 100 million they had attracted little attention in the lead up to the conference, and had entered the SS Prince Alexei's convention room without being battered by the media that some other national reprasentaves had.

There were only two men in the envoy, both clearly diplomats, either the nation did not have security or they opposed such repressive actions.

The well dressed man stood moved forward a few paces and spoke

"Greetings members of 10000 islands, I am Dactylus and I along with Onamataply represent the government of Tognatia. This convention onboard the Great nation of Serconea's SS Prince Alexei, will be the Government of Tognatia's first chance to meet other's within this region, and for that I thank all those involved in setting up this confernece.

The Peoples Republic of Tognatia is a small and upcoming nation with active peacekeeping force, and liberal values. The People of Tognatia are green people, they and their government prefer green innitives, such as alternaive energies. The Government of Tognatia will look to forward the goals of both the nation of Tognatia and the region throughout these talks. The People's republic of Tognatia looks forward to discussions with its fellow islanders over the next few days.

Lady Katalena, sister of Lady Myrial, paces the deck of the softly rolling ship. After that storm in the Pacific she was days late for the conference. "James!" she calls. A man dressed in the royal colors of Yupanqui comes over. "Write an apology to the Prime Minister of Serconea. Tell him of our troubles at sea and that we shall arrive in 5 hours with my 2 ladies-in-waiting and 2 guardsmen at the cruise ship."
"Yes, Lady." James backs away and rushes to his room. Katalena sighs. She's never had such an official duty before, and it took months to get the staff to call her anything but "Esteemed sister of our elected Lady." She needed a nap.

She woke up after a rude bump. A light shined in her eyes. "Lady, we're at the SS Prince Alexai. Wake up and make yourself presentable." Katalena threw on her fancy robes and climbed aboard.

"Hello. I am sorry to arrive so late, there were fierce storms off the coast of Yupanqui that delayed our trip. My name is Katalena. I am sister to the elected Lady of Yupanqui. It is our tradition to always have a female ruler. My sister and I are of the Atahualpa dynasty. I am also the Lady of Foreign Affairs, which is why I am here."

"We treasure freedom of religion and speech. We hold our civil rights above all other intrests. I am very happy to be here."

Katalena inhaled deeply.

[Sheynat]

After the Yupanquian remarks, Reed rose to speak.
"We also apologize for making these remarks later in the proceedings than planned, but I had no time to memorize them, and this was lost." He gave a wry grin as he held up the sheet upon which they were written. "I am Minister James Reed of Sheynat. We are a republic, of liberal politics, except in the area of gun control. We are mostly Muslim; I stand before you as a representative of our Protestant minority. Together, with the esteemed Ahmed Akbar, I am here to, obviously, represent Sheynat. Despite being a fairly old nation, this is our first diplomatic contact; we have been isolationist outside of joint military operations. I have the honor of being one of Sheynat's first diplomats. Thank you." Reed returned to his seat and waited for the next to speak.

A tall lady with flaming red hair, dressed in a simple but elegant deep green gown rises next.

" Fellow delegates, my profound apologies for the lateness of my arrival, and my thanks to you all for the hospitality you have shown in welcoming us to this gathering.

The peoples of Aran Island, having recently escaped the tyranny of Great Bight in the North Pacific, would firstly like to thank all the nations present who, through TITO contributed to the liberation of our former region.

<Smiles and allows a ripple of applause to die down>

Although we are a small nation newly admitted to the expanding borders of this great region, we hope we will soon find a place in your hearts. We are a hard-working people, dedicated to the ideals of social democracy. Our first love, and one of our major exports is Music. We hope you will stop to enjoy some of the traditional and modern ensembles who will be playing at the informal sessions later.
