July 30: Empire of Power Day in the 10000 Islands

This upcoming Monday is a national holiday in the 10000 Islands for Empire of Power Day. Four years ago, our region barely survived an attack on our homeland. In fact, we made it by just one endorsement. To all of the regions that helped us way back then, thank you!

More history on the Empire of Power attack will be posted in the upcoming days.

From the Early History of TITO located in the Great Library:

"The Ten thousand Islands Treaty Organization or TITO was formed in the beginning days of the 10000 Islands. The founding members of Grub, Lyonesse, Blue Canaria, Titanica, and TheSensitiveNewAge all banded together for the mutual defense of the then tiny region.

As time went on, the 10000 Islands grew slightly, but the region was still small. One night, after several new nations had entered the 10000 Islands, a nation by the name of New Boniventure posted a warning that our region may be the aim of an attack by the Empire of Power.

The Empire of Power was a region roughly five times the size of the 10000 Islands and was known for attacking regions and then ejecting all of the native countries.

Thanks to the early warning, the stealth attack was confirmed. As Empire of Power nations flooded into the 10000 Islands, the future looked bleak as we were heavily outnumbered. The only hope was to go to outside unknown regions and ask them for their help.

The call for help was sent out to many regions that night, and thankfully many responded. Some of the regions that generously lent their help were the Urbanites, Texas, the Heartland, The Rejected Realms Army, and several other regions. When the NationStates update came, our side was victorious by just a single endorsement. The battle went on for two more days, but help flooded in and the region that dwarfed us in size was soundly defeated. Without the help of those outside regions, the 10000 Islands would have been defeated."

The airspace above the Empire of Power will be opened, otherwise it will remain closed as it is currently being used as a bird sanctuary.

The entire Fleeban Air and Space Force will perform a fly-by of the EOP at 12:00Z on Monday 2007-07-30. (Please keep the sanctuary geese and other high flyers out of the flight path... nothing worse than pureed goose.)

That's how it works when you capture and refound a region... (Technical term is "hawking," as in "swoop down and grasp it in your claws so you can take the wriggling squirming worm prey off and feed it in bits to your hungry young...", but don't get the impression that anyone gets any emotional satisfaction whatsoever from seeing the devourers dismembered and devoured. ;D )

Actually they died off, deservedly and their doom was sealed by our securing the region.

This is hardly unique--we have long reserved the right to act as the Allies did in WW2, requiring unconditional surrender, occupation, and reconstruction of lawless regimes.

Happy Empire of Power Day!!!! Thanks to all of the regions who helped us that night! Also, let this anniversary be a reminder to those who attack the weak -- those cowardly organizations will never stand up in the long run to TITO and other defenders.

During this past week we all saw that invaders still have not learned by their attack on the Rejected Realms. As usual, TITO and other defenders quickly took out our whooping sticks and taught them a lesson. That mission took less than a day to win.

I am very happy that I have been part of a great group of people like those in TITO. With 650 missions in the bag, I look forward to many more with you all. Keep up the great work! I am now getting in the official national jet of Grub and will be flying over the first state in the 10000 Islands, the re-formed Empire of Power which was annexed several years ago.

To Frenchie, Mattaton, Winky Woo, Angry Bob and the rest of the old Empire of Power Crew, thanks for helping to inadvertently form the best defending force in NationStates!

Who we are is what we remember.
We remember the Day of Invasion...

the innocent quiet of a small region--
--peaceful and seeking none harm,
the stealth of those who come to raid and conquer,
the deceit and lies of those who desire what is not theirs;

the desperate search for outside help,
the cold despair while plunderers rush in;

To all those who remember me, its been a while since Ive been on here, but today was the perfect day to come back.

I am so pleased to see that XKI still retains the same vibrancy and positive attitude that it did years ago when I was a member. I have since ceased to exist (on nationstates) but I look back fondly on my days as education minister and helper-outer in the immigration dept.

TITO, keep up with the awesome work: this day is yours.

'Ello, all. It's been a while. Grub sent me an e-mail inviting me to pop in for Empire of Power day, and I thought it would be nice to catch up a little with my favorite NationStates crowd. I see a lot of new faces around here, but I suppose that's to be expected. It has been what, three years since I was delegate? Which makes it about two since I retired from NS. Incredible.

Anyway, I hope you all are doing well. It's great to see that 10000 Islands is still going strong even after all this time. I wish I had the time to get involved again, but I would never be able to dedicate as much time as I used to. Maybe some day, Boktavia will return...in the meantime, Viva 10000 Islands! Happy Empire of Power day, everyone.
