Here's a thought-provoking exercise: If you could be in charge of YOUR OWN taxes (IE: The government sends you a form that you fill out, allowing you to allocate ANY or ALL of your taxes to ANYTHING the government does), where would you send the money? You can change things around (IE, put a fund there run by the government that's not there now) providing you don't change the departments of the government. Here's my answer (figuring 100% = the total AMOUNT of taxes taken from me): 0% to Congress and the Senate 5% to education 5% to Labor 20% to Infrastructure 30% to a special government fund for the poor (HUD-run) 40% to the deficit. Your turn
0% to Congress and the Senate - We shouldn't put people here who do it for the money anyway. Let it be a true service and maybe we'll get better people in there. 25% to education - I really liked the rhetoric of "Win the future" but we can only do that by investing in the future. 5% to Labor 20% to Infrastructure - Spending money to get high speed internet accessible across the nation, and maybe even free lower speed Wi-Fi options for low income families, can assist in education growth. 15% to a special government fund for the poor (HUD-run) 15% To defense 20% to the deficit.
The best thing about UDP jokes is that I don’t care if you get them or not.
