Ok I'm a new player once I'm able to get on the map I have to make a choice Revolt in some one else's colony. This would start me off in an RP and I would have a chance to gain infrastructure that I would not have but it is sure to make enemy's. Starting my own island I am in control of all most all the history of the island but I will start with nothing. What would you do?

First I would telegram Minna to confirm your nation, then join the WA to make yourself eligible for the map. Then take the free option. AD is right, it costs a ton of tacos to cause a revolt, and they may have the space element that would prevent said revolt.
It's too expensive to start a revolt. And it might cost you too. As for me, none of the present islands interests me because I'm supposed to be an archipelago. Therefore, I can't start a revolt or start my civilization on any of the available single-islands. Ill just have to wait until they discover new islands and then Ill claim an archipelago if they find one. From there, i'll build from scratch. I just can't pick up one of the available territories since they're incompatible with my nation, which is an archipelagic one.
