What do you think democracy is and what is your ideal democracy?

Vaguely speaking democracy is letting the public have their say in the governance of the nation, the greater the say the greater the level of democracy. The true definition is that the governance of the nation is run by the people. I think that representative democracy is a very inefficient and ineffective form of government, no ruling party/person can make the difficult choices they're elected to make without putting their and their party's future at risk. IMO the best form of democracy would be a constitutional monarchy with a strong central monarch.

FYI, This thread is probably better off on the 10000 Islands board or the Grand Debate Hall or something.

Sorry i'm still getting used to this forum

A constitutional monarchy? Well i live in one ('Straya) and i must say there isn't much respect for the Queen. She seems to be more of a figure head. The issues with democracy is the amount of time it takes to get things through; im not saying i want to be living in a dictatorship but i would love if legislation got through a bit faster.

Should this be moved to the debate hall instead?
