Sector 3,1 is host to a binary star system named Vita Aedes.
This star system has 5 planets, 4 orbiting the main star, Vita Aedes, and 1 orbiting the red dwarf companion, Daegis. All the planets are terrestrial worlds, there are no gas giants, but there is a rich asteroid belt between the 3rd and 4th planets. For detailed information on this system, refer to the Ardrean Solar System Factbook Entry.
The second planet in this system, Aedes, is home to 9 civilizations, the two most powerful of which are Ardreas and Invictus. Together, these nations comprise more than 60% of the total land area, and more than 80% of the population. They are by far the most advanced, technologically, on their world, though in the scope of the wider universe they are just stepping out of the cradle.
Below are two maps of the planet Aedes, the first showing all the nations and their boundaries, the second showing major cities and topography. Click the links for full size.

The third planet in this sytem, Ninabi, is home to a prospering Ardrean colony. Established in 7:84 Ascension, by the Ardrean calendar, it has grown rapidly over the past 8 years and become a primary source of mining and mineral exports to the nations on Aedes. It has yet to develop beyond the single city that is the primary colony site, however initial terraforming operations have met with success and plans are under way to expand human settlements as the planet becomes more hospitable.
The final object of interest in this system is the rogue planetoid, Rhunar. Orbiting very close to Daegis, this mysterious world is tidally locked to the red star. Due to its dark surface and close orbit to the companion star, it was not discovered until quite recently. Ardreas currently has one vessel in orbit of Daegis, the Ascension. On a mission to explore the alien world, it is this expedition that uncovered a startling secret and set in motion a series of events that would turn this sector upside down...
Technological and Military Situation at the start of the role play:
Ardreas maintains a strong military with 1.1 million active duty personnel on the homeworld and a garrison of 183,000 on Ninabi. They are primarily planet-bound, and Ardreas does not yet possess weaponized spacecraft or FTL technology. However, Ardreas is developing rapidly in both infrastructure and scientific advancement. Given enough time, the Imperial Republic could become a formidable interstellar power.
At the start of the role play, Ardreas has 3 spacecraft capable of transporting personnel and supplies between planets:
- The Ascension, the newest and fastest ship in the Ardrean fleet, currently in orbit of Rhunar.
- The Almalon, a freighter operating a supply line between Aedes and the colony on Ninabi.
- The Arcturus, the aging transport that made history 8 years ago in taking the first colonists to Ninabi, currently serving along side the Almalon as a freighter.
Invictus maintains a small military, primarily focused on a naval coast guard and special ops. It's greatest deployable organization is a large aid organization called the Gold Cross, which is trained to offer medical and humane assistance anywhere on the planet. In addition, Invictus's scientific research has been promising, and the nation is set to send out its own spacecraft to explore the solar system. It does not yet have any offworld colonies, but with time it too could become an influential space faring nation.
At the start of the role play, the year is 7:92 Ascension by the Ardrean calendar, Anno Modernus 32 by the Invictan calendar.
As the story begins, Ardreas is set to receive news from the Ascension about the situation on Rhunar. Invictus does not yet know anything about the discovery...
