Which faction did you support at the end of Fallout: New Vegas? Why? I figured that if anyone has played the game that this could make for a decent political discussion.
While I've played through all endings, I believe that NCR most closely resembles a successful government. The NCRs only major problem is corruption. And although the legion does a very strong government,I believe it would fall apart after it runs out of things to conquer.

I am unsure if this is a necro, but I sided with Mr. House because I speculated that a benevolent dictatorship would be best for New Vegas. New Vegas turned into an orderly and efficient location.
I went with independent as well, but as a second I'd go with NCR.
New Vegas is fully capable of operating independently, which is why so many people are fighting over it. It's the diamond in the rough that could save the NCR or the Legion. With the support of the Brotherhood and the Followers, New Vegas could turn into an influential force in the region that could help to push back the Legion for good, and slow down the NCR's expansion (which would be a good thing for the NCR, honestly).
The best thing about UDP jokes is that I don’t care if you get them or not.

Wow, my thread actually got some replies in my absence!
I ultimately ended up siding with House too, lambo. My reasoning was that House was basically the closest thing to God left on earth. He has seen the comings and going of nations and different types of government. He saw how western democracy descended into corporatocracy and the nuclear hellfire that followed. He's extremely intelligent, the founder of his own successful business empire, managed to predict the end of the world, and then was able to save himself and most of Vegas even though he didn't even have all of the necessary software to do so.
Sure, he's a bit coldhearted and doesn't care much for the poor and downtrodden or democratic rule, but he wishes to use Vegas to create a booming tourist economy and use his resources to reignite high technology. The ultimate goal is to build up enough to take mankind away from the destroyed earth and into the stars, no matter what the cost may be in human lives.
I liked and originally sided with the NCR, but I feel as if they are spread far too thin, too corrupt, and with inept leadership. In its current state, the NCR is arrogant and overestimates itself. If it wasn't for the player character intervening many times over on the NCR's behalf, I have little belief that they could have actually held New Vegas and its surrounding territories. I think that the NCR needed a reality check, and a House victory did just that. Upon seeing such a humiliating defeat right from under their noses, NCR citizens would turn the blame to the NCR administration for such a useless war (think Bush/Cheney in Iraq) and from then on might consider that the great New California Republic is also fallible.
Morality aside, I don;t think that Caesar's Legion is really all that practical at all. As many characters state, the younger legionaries are not loyal to Caesar's ideals; they are only loyal to Caesar himself. Caesar is old and sick, and I think its likely that there would be internal squabbles upon his death for control of the Legion (Vulpes/Lucius/Lanius).
Independent Vegas might work, but it would be kind of difficult for the courier to keep all of the families and factions in check by himself. Presumably, the courier isn't a super genius like House is, and I imagine that he also wouldn't project a fearful presence like House did, which will make it more difficult to keep the families in line.
