Here is a post for any sports fans who feel like arguing over something. Yesterday the first two semifinal games in the College Football Playoff were held in the US, with Oregon and Ohio State making it to the championship game to be played on the 12th. While pretty much everyone outside of the United States couldn't care less, for the Americans in the 10000 Islands community who happen to like College Football, does anyone have any thoughts on how the new championship format is playing out?
Personally, I like the 4 team playoff format. I think when a tournament gets too big it becomes less interesting, and 4 teams feels like the right size. This keeps the debate alive over marginal teams (like the Ohio States / TCU / Baylor debate this year), while still ensuring that there is a decent amount of competition. I also feel like it makes January 1 an event date in college football again, which just hasn't been the case throughout the BCS era.

I'm for it. What it really does is expand the "top 2" championship game to a "top 4" playoff for the championship. I've read that this was mostly designed because of prior controversy about deciding the "top 2" teams from the BCS rankings. Another step, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. If they expand it though, then that might change my view.

So far, so good. I think that TCU would have been the better choice over FSU, but that's with the gift of hindsight. No one could have responsibly not invited FSU to play, since they were undefeated and defending national champions. I do like this better than the BCS, since neither Oregon nor Ohio State would be playing for the Championship with BCS, and based on results, they are deserving.

Hindsight Man was an actual superhero they created (Marvel). Makes me question life.
