Outskirts of an Unknown Village, Central Wilds
The soft glow of the campfire illuminated the interior of the cave that sheltered Farkas from the stormy night outside. Farkas looked out into the darkness of the storm, he could just make out several lights coming from the small town about a mile away, the storm had forced many into their homes, yet some remained outside, guards probably. Farkas let out a brief laugh, he knew that they'd be unprepared for what was about to be unleashed. He knew what he was doing was wrong, he'd had to come that agreement years ago, but there was this feeling of excitement that put those niggling thoughts to rest.
Throughout his travels, Farkas had become acquainted with his curse. The curse that left him to wake up in the middle of nowhere. Naked, filthy and covered in blood, usually next to some unrecognisable carcass. However, recent times were different, he'd begun to remember more and more from each session, as if the beast within had become intertwined with his normal life, he felt that he was becoming more sentient rather than a vicious feral beast, however that vicious beast still existed. There was a short crack of thunder, Farkas smiled as he looked skywards, this was too prefect. He silently removed his clothing and weaponry, placing them into a small bag which he then hid. His hair stood on end as the first wave of endorphins washed over him, he knew that it was time.
His heart gave a mighty thud, quickly followed by a second and a third, then nothing, his heart had stopped. His hand rose to grasp at his chest, his body had shifted into high gear, quickly adjusting to the changes that were happening, a second wave of endorphins flooded over him, desperately attempting to ease the pain that was to come. Farkas fell to his knees, that was when the pain hit him like a broadsword to the chest. He screamed, which quickly became silent as his throat, gullet and vocal chords tore themselves apart and began to reform. He lay there, writhing in pain as his bones elongated and new muscles formed, his skin shredding away leaving behind thick black fur. His skull and face had begun to reform to create a snout, thick razor sharp fangs grew and replaced his teeth as his finger and toenails grew into claws that extended from his gigantic paws. A vicious snarl came from the beast as he dug his claws into the stone floor, before collapsing to the ground. Another wave of pain slammed into him as the final changes happened.
For Farkas, the transformation seemed like forever, however it was barely a couple of minutes. The wolf's chest rose greatly, inhaling and exhaling the cold air, lying on the cold cave floor. Slowly, he rose, his ears grazing the cave roof, standing at 8’4" the great wolf turned to look out into the night, almost smiling at what he saw. He arched his back, and let out a deafening howl. The howl rolled across the valley, as a sign of things to come.
In the village, Marius had just started his guard shift, he despised working the night shifts, the rain just added to it. When he heard that howl, he froze. The hairs on his body shot up as a tingle ran down his spine, something was out there. Marius slowly walked forward, his hand tightly gripping the grip of his sword. The sudden sound of snapping branches brought his attention to the treeline, “Who goes there!” He called out, as he cautiously walked towards the forest, pulling his sword from its scabbard. A flash of lightning illuminated the land, that's when he spotted the large figure standing quietly in the trees. Its two yellow eyes penetrating the darkness, a second flash only brought the creature closer to him. Flight or fight instincts kicked in, Marius had chosen flight. He dropped his sword and turned to flee, only enticing the creature from the woods, in one great bound, the creature leaped towards Marius. One clean swipe with his razor sharp claws was enough to bring Marius down, a brief shriek came from him, before his death.
The noise had attracted several other guards, who had sprinted from their positions around the village. The guard captain was the first to arrive, as he rounded the corner past a small outhouse he spotted the carnage, “Werewolf!” He called out, drawing his sword and making a charge towards the beast. The beast's attention instantly locked upon the guard captain, he let out a feral roar and stood up, dwarfing the captain. The captain was the first to make a move, talking a wide swing at the beasts midsection, however he hadn't indented such a large creature to have the ability to move at such a quick pace, he'd ultimately had made his last move. The beast threw its arm forward, clamping down upon the captains neck, he effortlessly hoisted him up, a single snap was enough to extinguish the captains life.
As he started to feast upon his game, a two more guards had arrived at the scene. One had managed to get the first swing off, slamming the sharp sword into the beasts left shoulder. The beast howled out in pain, turning to face his new opponents, he roared at them before briefly looking over his wound, 'Heh, just a flesh wound' a familiar voice rang out in his mind. He quickly looked back at the two guards, quickly striking at one, leaving him with deep claw marks along his chest. The other didn't live for much longer, the beast turned to him and pounced upon him, biting down on his chest, his sharp teeth tearing into him. A sudden pain resonated from his back, quickly followed by a second. Two arrows protruded from his back, a final guard had began firing at him from a small building. Again, the beast was disrupted from enjoying his victory, he stood up, turned around to face the direction in which the arrows had come from, snarling at the figure as the rain washed away the blood from his snout. At first he slowly walked towards the window, before he quickly dropped down upon all fours and broke into a sprint. The beast leaped towards the window where the guard was, breaking through the flimsy wooden frame and knocking the guard flying, he howled again as a flash of lightning and the roll of thunder washed over the land. He attempted to move around the cramped space, only doing so by hunching over, he moved towards his unconscious prey, his large figure knocking over furniture. A lantern that had been illuminating the room fell to the floor, catching a rug on fire. Finally, the beast could feast in peace, at least until the fire forced him back outside.
It wasn't too long before the fire spread through the small room, forcing the beast back out into the storm. As he emerged from the opening that he had created, pieces of wood still fell from the gaping hole. That's when he saw him, a lone guard, his back turned to the great wolf and facing the mangled corpse of what was the guard captain. His tongue licked his snout, clearing away the fresh blood from his recent kill as he slowly approached his new target. The guard knelt down to examine the dead corpse; broken neck, claw marks, and most obviously an open chest cavity. The guard noticed a dull thumping noise behind him, followed by the occasional growl, it was behind him. His breathing rapidly increased, the beast must have been only a few feet away from him now, he had to run. The beast snarled again before the guard attempted to flee. 'Mmm. Fine, let's play' the beast thought, howling into the night. The guard raced towards the nearest building, the tavern. He could hear the thumping of the werewolf sprinting after him, he was only a mere few feet away from the door when he heard the powerful grunt from the pursuing beast that had pounced for him. The beast succeeded, catching the fleeing guard in his razor sharp maw. He could tasted the fresh blood as he came into contact with the flimsy wooden door of the tavern. Bursting forth into the room, sending fragments of wood everywhere.
