Liberate St Abbaddon
A resolution to strike down Delegate-imposed barriers to free entry in a region.

Description: The World Assembly,

Noticing the ancient region of St Abbaddon was occupied weeks ago,

Conceding that St Abbaddon is not yet under a password,

Considering endorsement levels in the region to be far in excess of what occupiers would need to hold the region, and accumulating influence to do damage may be the purpose of these excess forces,

Further considering new regional officers to cause greater dangers to a native community such as this one,

Insisting a delay to act until a password is implemented could mean the opportunity to act in time has passed,

Noting very few historically founderless regions have survived other than the feeder and sinker regions,

Appreciating these few remaining relics for the valuable reminders they contain about the origins of NationStates,

Remembering St Abbaddon was originally inhabited by people who came to NationStates from other domains in the first few months,

Believing the story of St Abbaddon to be useful for understanding the cultures of early NationStates,

Observing St Abbaddon is presently home to many native nations who seek to preserve their region,

Hoping a World Assembly Liberation will hinder the efforts of the occupiers, and apply pressure to end the occupation without permanent consequences,

Knowing the natives of St Abbaddon will rise stronger than ever before if given the opportunity,

Hereby Liberates St Abbaddon.

While Topid wrote it, I'm not convinced that he'll stay in the region yet. I am concerned about the influence levels of the delegate, another week and they'll be able to install a password.

For it. Topid is an actual native of St Abbaddon and the author of this proposal. The other one needs to be dealt with, however.

I think based on a super old sticky I'm allowed to post here even though I am not from 10kI. Sincere apologies if I am stepping over a line.

First, I'm aware TITO worked really hard to stop this raid. Thank you SO MUCH. I know our password made your involvement in the defense very difficult, but I wholeheartedly thank those involved, and TITO in general, for the effort. I will not forget that.

Second, I would really appreciate it if 10kI would vote for my proposal. I think it is going to be an uphill fight with the GCR delegates because of Europeia's involvement, so big delegates could be a problem for me. I know as Elite said above there is doubt I'll stick around actively to protect the region, and that's definitely fair. I was active and heavily involved in this game years ago in high school and college, but now I'm an accountant and real life has gotten significantly more real. Having said that, I have every intention of personally holding the delegacy and doing the best I can to build St Abby back up post-raid. Even if it doesn't go as I plan though, I don't really think if I go inactive that means St Abby isn't worth saving.

Our former delegate (and an amazing guy) Hawk is the one who wanted to sit behind a password. I thought that was a policy doomed to fail, and either this was going to happen or Hawk and I would have kept our puppets in the region for a decade just looking at one another (which doesn't feel like saving the region). However, since Hawk wanted it despite my recommendations and he had been in the region almost 10 years longer than I, I didn't feel it was my place to do anything but go along with that plan. If Hawk is really gone as he said (and he's 20 days inactive, which is unheard of for him) then IMO all the responsibility and authority that he's worn for so many years falls to me. I take that seriously.

All I can say beyond that is to hold me to account, if I get the region back and fail to boost it in the coming months, let the world know I failed and do it loudly. I'd just like another chance. If you have any questions or comments for me, I will check back to this thread regularly through the vote.

P.S. - As for the version not authored by me, if it goes to vote I'm leaning toward voting against. I'd rather it not go to vote at all since it is a waste of time, but if the raiders are going to put it to vote and the time is going to be spent anyway.. On one hand it'd be another Liberation to repeal before anyone could make an attempt to refound the region which I like. On the other hand I intentionally wrote my draft without ever mentioning DEN or naming a raider. My hope was to keep this about my region's history and the potential it has for NS, and not about them. The other draft is clearly about them, which is why they wrote it. So do with that what you will.

Thank you Paffnia, that is awesome to hear.

As for the other proposal, it is entirely legal to liberate a region twice. Taking off my native hat and putting on my SC-Commended WA Author hat:

{Sedge ruled here} that a second liberation can't duplicate the first Liberation. Since both liberation are talking about the same invasion, perhaps I could argue to the mods theirs is a duplication of mine (if mine looks like it is going to pass).

{In the Compendium of Mod Rulings} under "branding" it says:
"Additionally, attempts to spell out your name with bolded letters, or other such silliness, will likely be deemed illegal under Rule 2 (use your common sense)."

The other proposal makes the letters D, E, and N bold to spell out the author's region's name. I also plan to argue that in a GHR.

So perhaps I can get it pulled. If the mods don't like either of those arguments though, then yeah it will go to vote and it is possible we'd be WASC Liberated twice.

Only at the time of submission. I actually did the same thing since my nation in St Abby doesn't have 2 endorsements. I submitted with "Topid" and then switched my WA back to one of my St Abby nations.
