Hello! I noticed there was a NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) competition last year that maybe didn't quite get off the ground. I'd like to offer to moderate one this year if anyone is interested.
Rules:
1) Everything you write must be written in the month of November. Not October...Not December. No.Vem.Ber.
2) This can be a short story with a complete beginning/middle/end or a partial novel depending on how you feel your time would be best spent. They will be judged the same, based on their own merits. If you do a partial novel, please just include in your submission a short paragraph or outline about where you see the story going as you move forward.
3) This is a supportive activity, even if it is a competition. We can post here how many words we've written, if we're stuck, we can help each other with edits, outlines, etc.
4) I would like to participate, so I would like to have submissions judged by participants. I think, however, this should be anonymous in case people are shy about sharing their writing with everyone, and also so that voting is fair. To that end, I'd ask that everyone submit their writing to me and I will assign it a unique number for voting.
5) Submissions must be received by December 7th
6) I would like to have judging completed by January 30th. If we have lots of submissions, this date can be flexible...but we can decide as a group once we know who's in.
Prizes:
1st - 5000 Tacos
2nd - 3000 Tacos
3rd - 2000 Tacos
I have never headed a competition like this, so please please please feel free to give me feedback so that I can be most helpful and make this event as fun and active as possible Leading up to 11/1 I will be posting writing prompts to get the creative juices flowing. Feel free to post responses to the writing prompts! Who knows, maybe one will turn into your best seller
