Welcome to the October Poet Laureate Contest, with the theme of alphabetic acrostics. Below are all the poems I received, ordered randomly by RANDOM.org. Anyone may vote in this contest, and the poem with the most votes earns its author the title of Poet Laureate! Remember, still do NOT share the authorship of any entry with anyone but me until the contest is over (11:59 P.M. PDT, Friday, October 20th).
Please give the poets their due courtesy and read over all the poems before voting.
Good luck to everyone, and may the best poet win!
Entry 1
Everlasting
Ages come and ages go,
Billions of years I've felt time flow.
Crossing the stream of eternity,
Death has lost its hold on me.
Everyone I once knew has passed,
Forced from me they couldn't last.
Grinding worlds down to dust,
Having it all blow away in a gust.
Infinity itself is the curse I bear,
Just me alone with none to share.
Killing time takes on a new meaning,
Longing for an end fills my dreaming.
My life unable to end by fasting,
Name me this, Everlasting.
Entry 2
Are you starving for excitement?
Boredom have your joy undone?
Come and join us on the forums,
Doctor's orders, have some fun.
Ere you know it you'll be smiling,
Flying high and so carefree.
Getting lost in sweet enjoyment,
Happy haven, come and see.
I assure you, you'll be welcome,
Just be friendly, that's a rule.
Killing raiders, that's encouraged,
Like to spam? Well here it's cool.
Making tacos is so easy,
Not a drop of sweat you'll shed.
Order all the drinks you want to,
Pray to Zardoz from your bed.
Quit your stalling, just get started,
Really, friend, I hope you do.
Spam your brains out or just dabble,
That decision's up to you.
Use your whole imagination,
Vote for Hakke, milk a bull.
Wear your fav'rite undergarments,
Xanadu, it lacks our pull.
You will never once regret it,
Zany friends you're sure to make.
Are you coming? We are waiting,
Bring your A game, have some cake.
Entry 3
Above absolutely nothing, at the
Bottom of dignity
Cries the wee baby raider
Displayed in malignity
Envelops himself in a badly-made flag
Forgets that his purpose
Grants no room to brag
He sings praises of victories
In fact, all for naught
Just for them to be freed
Kindly leaving him fraught
Leaving halfway through update
Methinks he lacks energy
Nothing defines him better
Other than an allergy
Preparing to defend himself
Queuing his claims
Repeating the same platitudes
Staging childish games
Tries to argue effectively
Understandably failing
Vying for attention
With his relevance paling
Xeroxed again, his plea loses all value
Yielding nothing but
Zingers, his scathing review
