The IQL is upon us!
With just a few more days left before the opening draft, players and fans alike are getting their first glimpses of the teams that will make up the Islander Quidditch League. The first team to reveal themselves to the public was the Flemingisa Flyers. The "Grand Soviets" seek to dazzle fans with their guerrilla inspired forest green and auburn uniforms. The enthusiasm displayed by the team's ownership has made it an early fan favorite prior to the draft.
Togris and Heart of Compassion would follow Flemingisa's announcement with reveals of their own the next day. The Foxes from Togris, at first glance, appear to be a more traditional team, but one with a lot of heart. The humble backers of this club hope that their passion for sport will lead their club to victory. The Angels have been dubbed the "Heartbreakers" by their first fans which suggests that this team may be willing to mix it up more than their official name implies. As one of the wealthier clubs in the league, the pressure will be on for the players in Heart of Compassion to deliver.
The most unique team, thus far, has to be The Warren Rainbow Fan Club out of Freeworld. Their eye-catching rainbow uniforms look to deliver color to the IQL. The wealthiest club to unveil themselves is the Tespid Quidditch Club. The Chickens look to see themselves atop the pecking order as they dig their spurs into the IQL. The clucking throughout Etild has been dominated by this newest expansion into Quidditch. The Kozmix Kangaroos are a moderate sized club hailing from one of the newer nations to grace the Islands. Only time will tell if this team makes as big a splash in the IQL as their nation has in the Islands.
Most recently, three more teams have announced their participation in the Islander Quidditch League: The Adytum Unicorns, The Cire City Sky Sorcerers and the Tournesol Typhoons. Hailing from the newest Islands to join this region, Adytum and Cire City look to make their first impressions via their Quidditch clubs. The hands-down fan favorite team name belongs to the Sky Sorcerers. Hopefully Cire City takes advantage of their unique identity to build a strong and loyal fan base. The Unicorns bleed Silver, but aim to be the golden standard in the early days of the League. These dark-horses may just end up being the team to watch. Lastly, the Tournesol Typhoons finally revealed themselves the other day, amid high anticipation throughout Alkasia. The fact that they waited so long to make their announcement makes this publication believe that management looks to keep their cards very close to the chest as we head closer to opening day. We anxiously await any opportunity to glance into the eye of this raging storm!
Seeker Weekly expects at least one more announcement before the draft begins in a few days, but it is anyone's guess as to where it will come from. The rumor mill has been quite active and no Island has been spared from speculation. A ruckus emerged earlier today when a fan watching film from the IQL's Incorporation celebration suggests that Commissioner Benevolent Thomas can be seen mouthing the words "Taco Island Spammers" to an excited group of league officials. Others believe that a team may emerge from outside of the Islands. Fans from the Rejected Realms were disappointed to see that The Unicorns did not hail from the region and #SouthPacificTsunamy has been trending in the South Pacific in recent days. This commotion is not expected to end until the day of the draft which itself will present fans with much to talk about.
