I am delighted to announce that by a unanimous and enthusiastic vote of the Council of Nine, Markanite has been awarded the Heart of the Islands. This award honors Markanite, whose kindness, dedication, tireless efforts on behalf of hte Islands, and generosity of spirit has made the region a much better place. In particular, his service as Delegate (multiple times) and Minister of Education made the Islands the welcoming, supportive, active region it is today. For his service, the Council of Nine inducts him into the honored ranks of the few Heart of the Islands award winners.

Only the very best and most honorable Islanders receive such a prestigious award and though it is a beautiful and shiny ornamental mantle piece, you outshine the thing!
