Welcome to the June Poet Laureate Contest, with only one rhyme allowed. Below are the poems I received, ordered randomly by RANDOM.org. Anyone may vote in this contest, and the poem with the most votes earns its author the title of Poet Laureate! Remember, still do NOT share the authorship of any entry with anyone but me until the contest is over (9:00 A.M. Pacific, Thursday, June 27th).
Please give the poets their due courtesy and read over all the poems before voting.
Good luck to everyone, and may the best poet win!
Entry 1
The Island Girls Really Knock Me Out, They Leave RL Behind
I'm back again in the XKI
Fully metered, wondering why?
Taco-tikied, various highs,
Soapy spamming, sundry lyes.
E-sport RP, tumultuous tries,
Werewolf traitors, friendly spies.
Jukebox jamming, all magpies,
Voluminous vampires, logic plys.
Party Circle, greatness nigh,
Commune Shelter, scotch or rye?
Island Party, heavens fly,
World Assembly, my oh my.
Taco's Secrets, yours to pry,
Aerso's House, all seeing eye.
Tanz's unceasing political pie,
Boltor's shadow, bridge of sighs.
That's it, thats all, no need to cry
My rhyming's done in the XKI.
Entry 2
Hip hip Hooray
A sentry posted on the quay,
Who scanned for trouble on the bay,
Did spy them out beyond the cay
(For evil takes no holiday).
A mighty horde, in vast array,
Their vile intentions on display,
The danger here I shan't downplay,
Their victory would spell doomsday,
The frightened natives stopped to pray,
That help would come without delay,
Or else they'd all get swept away,
Their homeland sacked, left to decay,
A shout of joy did then convey,
The news that all would be okay,
For TITO's troops had joined the fray,
The raider scum they soon did slay,
The natives begged them then to stay,
To celebrate and don a lei,
To feast, to dance, quaff Cabernet,
("And when that's gone, we've Beaujolais),
The T.O. smiled and then did say
"No need to thank us, or repay
We do this each and ev'ry day,
Defending's in our DNA".
