Alright, so I just got out of discussing this with some other people, and I wanted to see what you all thought. Consider the scenario wherein you are a faithful adherent to a certain religion (so no "I'm an atheist, so..." arguments). Now, you're faced with a dilemma. Your religion is telling you to do something that goes against one of your core beliefs. Will you (#1) follow what your religion tells you, or (#2) will you violate an important rule in your religion?
If your answer is the non-existent #3, which would probably be something along the lines of "My religion aligns with my personal values", congrats, you don't need to answer this. However, you can still put yourself in another scenario, wherein you're actively participating in a religion because of respect of your partner or family's beliefs.
Definitions of morals for this case: #1 - A determined set of values about what's right and wrong that you must follow. #2 - Your personal set of values about what's right and wrong determining your every action.
Speaking as a Catholic, I'd choose the second option. I stick to my religion, because there are some values I share with it. I won't, however, be doing something I find immoral because of it.

Yeah, I agree with Jabber. Although, it's a somewhat hard role experimentation exercise given I generally don't hold any religious beliefs/morals. I can only really compare it to societal/messaged beliefs/morals that don't necessarily correspond to my personal beliefs/morals and how I usually defer to the personal beliefs/morals because the discomfort in violating those is a lot more deep seated

Definitely personal morals, I'm really not that religious, and I have to do what I think is right.

Speaking as someone who was raised as a Seventh-day Adventist, I'd choose the second option. We're taught about sola scriptura, that "the Christian scriptures are the sole infallible source of authority for Christian faith and practice". That's all well and good, but literature is an art and art is open to interpretation: it's why there are so many different denominations of Christianity, and I dare say Abrahamic religions (the major ones being Judaism, Christianity and Islam) as a whole. We all worship the same God of Abraham, but we're no less divided than humanity as a whole.
So for me, my personal set of values about what's right and wrong determine my every action. They align with Protestantism, but they probably don't align with any denomination in particular.
