Hello friends! I am so happy to once again see you here on the Election Board! My name is Wischland, current Delegate of 10000 Islands, and I am so excited to be running for reelection! For any newcomers to the region, a bit about myself. I joined April of 2020, and selected XKI as my NS home. I was blown away by how friendly, active, and accepting the community here was, and bit by bit, became more and more involved. I joined TITO and worked as a Deputy Senator for Blue Canaria North. Almost exactly a year ago, I ran for election Senator for Blue Canaria North, and began my stint on the Council of Nine writing monthly reports about our region for our embassies. Earlier this year I was also promoted to be a TITO Tactical Officer and helped lead Defender operations during update. In March, I was elected Delegate, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Why am I running for reelection?
The past six months have been intense, yet insanely enjoyable for me. Taking care of the region in small ways, like handling embassy requests, setting up WA votes, and updating the WFE are incredibly satisfying and relaxing. Organizing events with other regions, handling FA blowouts, and negotiating new relationships on the other hand has been exciting and engaging. It's been a fun term, and I would love to continue my work in helping XKI expand its influence, support regional sovereignty, and continue to act as a beacon of defender values for other regions. I love the community here and intend to do my best to engage with and support it!
A Look Back
Before I discuss my future proposals, I want to reflect on what I've accomplished thus far as Delegate.
Events - I coordinated with several other regions throughout my term to organize fun events for XKI. Most notably was the Summer Beach Bash in July, where we teamed up with TSP, TEP, and TRR for a week of beach-themed events, socializing, and friendship!
TIBOE Development - Throughout my term, I coordinated closely with TIBOE members to introduce new purpose to TIBOE and expand its efforts and influence. I established the position of TIBOE Secretary, to write monthly reports on TIBOE activities, providing a valuable record and fun encouragement for the future. I also established a minimum endorsement cap, promoting cross-endorsement and boosting XKI's average endo count.
New Friends - Under my guidance, XKI established new embassies with The League and The Free Nation Region, both active Defender regions and PfS members. We also established an embassy with Philosophers, the successor of a long-time friend of ours, Philosophy 115.
Partnership for Sovereignty - As the head of XKI's delegation in the Partnership for Sovereignty, I authored numerous recommendation, welcomed new bloc members, and advocated for an expansion of public access and PfS scope. I oversaw the creation of the PfS Mailing List, which distributes voting recommendations throughout NS to promote defender-aligned votes on SC proposals.
Strengthening Relations - One of my proudest accomplishments as Delegate has been negotiation the Taco-Tater Treaty with Spiritus, codifying our long friendship and shared values. Under this treaty, we'll continue to collaborate during cultural events, N-Day, and in GP politics. It's an important show of the strength of the relationship between XKI and Spiritus, as well as our mutual agreement on the deliciousness of Tacos and Potatoes.
GP Politics - Jumping into the fray of GP politics was definitely one of the most intense parts of being delegate. Even so, I didn't shy away from defending XKI's interests on the NS forum, even issuing an official statement with The South Pacific about TBH espionage, and another statement with The League on the proposed Frontier/Stronghold Update.
Internal Consistency - While perhaps not as dramatic as my other accomplishments, I'm also proud of the consistency I have shown in completing my internal duties, including posting WA votes with attached resources, handling embassy request in a timely manner, and responding to Islanders on our RMB, Forum, and Discord to foster a sense of community and approachability.
A Look Forward
So what do I want to accomplish in a second term? I've outlined some of my plans and goals below.
More Events - As we come out of the summer lull and see an uptick in activity, I want to organize more events with a variety of regions. This includes the usual cultural and social events, but also some more educational and interest-specific style events, such as WA and issue writing workshops, joint military training exercises with other Defenders, and Card pulls and competitions.
WA Authorship and Involvement - I'm a big advocate for creating and compiling resources to help people get involved in NS. This is especially important for the World Assembly where complex rules and social codes can scare away new authors. To help Islanders overcome this steep learning curve, I hope to work with the World Assembly Secretariat to compile existing resources for Islanders to use, and to promote newly-developed and developing programs by the Partnership for Sovereignty that provide assistance for aspiring authors. Coupled with greater recognition of XKI's authors, I intend to encourage and increase XKI's valuable base of WA authors.
TIBOE Expansion - TIBOE members already do an amazing job of encouraging Islanders to join the WA and endorse the delegate, but I also hope to continue my efforts to promote increased cross-endorsement throughout XKI, by making endotarting tools more widely available, increasing the number of TIBOE members, and setting monthly goals related to increasing the average endorsement count.
N-Day - With N-Day approaching once again, I've already begun negotiations with other regions to secure us a spot in the Potato Alliance and set us up for an exciting, successful N-Day. As the event approaches, I hope to continue to coordinate with friendly regions to give us the best shot at victory and ensure that N-Day runs smoothly for everyone.
A Stronger PfS - As the PfS grows, I intend to continue advocating for expanding its reach and availability throughout NS. This includes expanding the mailing list, promoting the Writer's Corner as an SC authorship resource, and hosting educational lectures, workshops, and Q&A panels. Making the PfS more than just a voting bloc is crucial to ensuring its long-term appeal and sustainability, and I believe this can be accomplished by turning it into an invaluable community resource for authors and WA-oriented defenders.
Promoting XKI's Interests - Put bluntly, the delegacy is full of things that are impossible to expect. FA surprises can blow up out of nowhere, and there is no way I can cover (or even think of) all possible events. What I can do, however, is make the promise that no matter what happens in the next six months, I will always put XKI first and ensure that we promote our own interests and values. We will continue to demonstrate the strength, vitality, and importance of our region!
And there you have it! Feel free to shoot me any questions you may have, and I'll be happy to answer them! I hope to see you at the polls next week to once again vote Wischland for Delegate!
