How shall the House of the Sword be run?

I think we should have a discussion about the way this House will operate and make decisions. Will we be democratic and poll the House Members when an important decision must be made, trusting that each member is making a free and informed choice for the good of the House? Or an autocracy with spratlyislands as the unquestioned head of state, ruled with an iron fist, covered in a velvet glove, and wielding a bloodied sword? Or perhaps he'll merely be a figurehead for shadowy figures lurking in the background, manipulating the House toward their own nefarious ends . . .

But to be honest, I like democracy, so I would prefer polls where everyone has like a week or so to cast their vote... The polls should be posted by the House steward, who might have a tie breaker vote (if needed)...
We should decide if there is and what is the duration of the steward job... I think 1 year/6 months terms may be the standard, and then a new election is held, with the current steward allowed to run again... If we do this, we should also determine what are the steward duties/powers and if they are decided globally for every Houses or for each House... Markanite, what is your thought on this?

Everyone knows the real power is the Vizier, and that the shadowy figures are actually his minions. 

I like where you're headed Tuga; I had similar ideas. I suggest that we add Rooms to our House, where one room is the Steward's Office where we can argue about rules, debate decisions, and flip over Spratly's desk when things get heated.

Stewards' powers are left to the discretion of the house, so they're pretty much open to the needs of the house.

The main duties should be fostering activity and ensuring the roster is up to date imo. I like the term limit ideas, that can really make us take ownership of the role and make the House of the Sword Steward role something special!

Hey all, I think we still have a few decisions to make as a House and that the most important is how we actually make decisions. I had a few joke suggestions but unless someone offers a serious alternative I think we should continue to use polls and, as Tuga suggested, have the Steward as tiebreaker. After that I think there's a bit of a to-do list: 
* Determine house colors/emblem and brainstorm other ways that will make our House unique and exceptional
* Determine Steward responsibilities - if there's anything other than maintaining the roll and fostering activity then we should probably agree on what they are. spratlyislands, since this impacts this you directly your input will be very important.
* Since a major part of the House restructure is to aid in recruiting and retaining Islanders, I think we should come up with a plan to do so. 

Since they are my suggestions I will start threads on the above, including a poll in the Hall of Grub about whether we will be a Democracy or not.

I do like the polls idea. Simple and straightforward.

As for the colors scheme, I think neutral colors would go best with our name. Like our colors, could be gray, dark brown, and red.

I'm not very fond that color scheme, to be honest... But I agree that the sword should be the focus point on the house shield, so the color scheme (behind the sword) probably cannot be too much vibrant... Maybe something based on our motto: unity is usually represented with blue, valor is red and yellow is used to represent honor
