Hello everyone,
Happy New Year! I wanted to say I hope each and every one of you has a joyful, prosperous and peaceful 2024.
I'd also like to extend a special note of thanks to our Islanders. We have a great team here and we're continuing to do things that many don't think are possible. 2023 has been a tough year for the region, we're battling the population decrease across NationStates and have implemented a range of changes to help us respond to the new dynamics of the game. We have however, retained our character and positive spirit. In November we looked at the following foci for the foreseeable future and here is an update on where we are now.
1. Updating our welcoming/information dispatch and forum information
The MOE, in conjunction with the Council of Nine have reviewed our dispatches and welcome messages, these have all been updated to help streamline how we provide new information to our new members. We will continue to review this over the next year and ensure we're continually updating our information.
Next step: Reforming 10000islands.proboards.com/board/96/information-bureau and linking all the steps to the dispatches to make it more cohesive.
2. Building A Taco Paradise and TITO
Recruitment is continuing for A Taco Paradise and we have built a good infrastructure to support arriving nations. We are closer than ever to our eventual goal.
Next step: We need to identify and cultivate new talent in TITO and push ATP to a Frontier.
3. Recruitment and getting more recruiters
We have telegram recruitment running for both ATP and XKI however this is not enough to make use a true force for recruitment. We have built the welcoming infrastructure in line with target 1 and DOT is ready to be used by all nations. New guides have been posted to explain recruitment more easily.
Next step: We are all set up to recruit but all we need is you! We would like to be back to 1100 by the end of February and we need your help to do it! Taco bonuses will be provided for all participants.
4. Increasing our engagement with AEGIS regions and other close allies
Our Foreign Affairs team is developing the way our emissary team operates and has reviewed our staffing to ensure we are actively engaging with our allies. As a result of recent years worth of work we are now more outwardly engaged than before.
Next step: Our Foreign Affairs team will work to foster new talent and also engage more closely with AEGIS and PfS
5. Increasing engagement within the region
This year saw the change of ministries and the creation of our Ministry of Culture, we've already held successful events with more to follow.
Next step: We will be looking to explore how to incorporate our calender into our Culture planning and see how the MOE and MOC can work together to introduce new Islanders to our rich history.
I'm very excited to see what next year brings. Thank you everyone for all you've done for the region, we are only here because of you and your engagement with the Islands.
Have a brilliant 2024!
Mark
