Ok, what we'll do here is let the candidates for senator speak their mind in one post. One post only! Make a case for the people to vote for you over the other people you are matched up with.
Unlike some of my opponents, I won't drown you in a mound of red tape. I'm straight forward with my opinions, and as senator I would represent you. No spin. No fancy write-offs. This job is supposed to be hard, and it takes experience to excel at it. The constitution is strong, but it can be made stronger with leaders. I would like to be that leader. Your voice.
My opponents include a person who was recently kicked out of our islands for rules violations. How is a person like that supposed to be a good senator? They can't even follow the constitution that they're supposed to uphold. Another one of my opponents seems to take the Ralph Nader angle and take a left-wing approach to everything. This so-called "veteran" speaks of TITO when he doesn't even control or contribute to it. How is he supposed to be a good senator?
I urge you to examine the facts in front of you. You need a strong, active leader in congress. I believe I can do just that for you. We can build a future for our islands, together.
On that note, I would also like to endorse New Boniventure, Panthenia and TheSensitiveNewAge for your vote in the other matchups. I will be voting for them. I hope you will too.
Thank you for your time, Dr. Josef T. Maxim

Thank You for your vote of confidence Nulibert, hopefully you aren't the only one.
Firstly, I'm very co-operative with nations. I will make sure that YOUR voice is heard better not only to Grub but to the other four members of the Senate and the whole of The 10000 Islands as well. I'm also very straight-forward with my opinions and i see everything as it is which is needed to progress as a Senator. I am an extremely active nation and am on here everyday even on schooldays for about 3 hours at least. I will apply my views to everything needed and give a fair approach to everything put in front of me.
If i am honest i cannot really say anything bad about my opponent, but if i am to become Senator i would rather do it by defeating him rather than the worst candidate in the election. All i can say is that i am a prosperous nation waiting for an oppurtunity; an oppurtunity that you, as voters can give me.
Without trying to seem arrogant, I urge you to vote for me and let 10000 Islands progress with me as Senator. We can work for 10000 Islands as one; Just give me the chance.
Finally, from the other election match-ups i would endorse New Boniventure, Nulibert and Anceltierre if given the chance.

First, let me say I will not attack my fellow opponents as one insists on doing to me because I don't believe in negative campaigning. I will only make the case for myself.
There is a very strong likelihood that TITO members will win the other three races, putting eight TITO members in the Council of Nine. Who will be the voice of non-TITO members? Who speaks for them? This is the entire grounds for my campaign.
One of my opponents has suggested that I shouldn't discuss TITO when I don't "even control or contribute to it." Let me respond to this attack in three brief points:
1. In real life, not every US Congressman has served as a part of the US Armed Forces. However, the ultimate authority to declare war resides in Congress, and defense budgetary funds are also allocated by Congress. The lack of military service for a Congressman, then, does not limit his or her ability to serve the people and make decisions regarding military forces.
2. The roles of a Senator have nothing to do with TITO at all. For the most part, these roles involve making objective, unbiased decisions which cannot be influenced by military affiliation, such as naming ambassadors, serving as the Supreme Court, ratifying treaties and laws, and overseeing UN activity. I am not a "left-wing" or "Ralph Nader" type candidate, but the opposite: a simple moderate who strives to stay non-aligned and make decisions for the common good.
3. Our respected founder, Grub, is the sole authority in TITO, and I will always defer to him in TITO matters.
In sum, I represent an objective, unbiased voice that is not influenced by any ministry, embassy, or defense force. I will speak for all the 10000 Islanders who are not a part of TITO while keeping the interests of TITO members in mind. My election to Senate will eliminate the growing fear among non-TITO nations that the 10000 Islands is becoming synonymous with TITO. By providing just one non-TITO voice, the Senate will rightly retain TITO dominance, but at least all segments of the population will be heard.

Nulibert, thank you for starting this thread.
As I have said before, being a founder of TITO has made me an experienced member of the world and of the region. During my time in TITO I have loyally participated in many campaigns, welcomed many new members of the 10k Islands, and served as the UN Delegate. Currently, I am the Ambassador to one of our isle's greatest allies where their President, Big Tex and I hold an almost daily dialogue concerning the safety of our two regions. My attendence to my home and this messageboard is daily. Lastly, and most importantly, my wit, charm, and inherently snazzy style make me an ideal Senator.
P.S. You don't want to dissapoint the ninja-monkeys, do you?

For my service strengthening ties between Canada and the 10000 Islands.
It seems that there is a strong emphasis on military service as a requirement of office. In the country that I come from this is called a military junta. I urge voters to consider a senator that is not a member of the military.
Why?
For one my focus is not always abroad scanning the horizon for threats. Yes I concede that this is a very necessary part to the security of our region but it should not be the one and only reason for being a senator. Rather if you vote me to the senate I will focus on domestic issues. These issues include strongly structured ministries that allow for policy development from citizens of the 10000 Islands to be considered. The implementation of policy that is consistent with our stated aims and constitution. The introduction of a region wide currency that allows free trade between nations is a key component to a strong region. This gives a coherency to disparate nations within a region. One more part of domestic policy that I will focus on is the region map. Again this makes the ties between nations stronger.
Vote for the people and not the army.

As writer of the constitution, if I would make a simple interruption to this.
Senators have no, I repeat, no ability to deal in TITO matters, so why does it matter what people's opinions and alignments in TITO are?
Here is some proof:
Article 3.3. The Senate shall have the powers to approve statutes for the better governance of the 10000 Islands, ratify treaties, approve ambassadors, advise the UN delegate concerning UN issues, appoint subordinate tribunals to act as courts within the 10000 Islands, hold tribunals on appeal of judgments for violation of the constitution and statutes, and function as the Supreme Court of the 10000 Islands.
Nowhere is it stated that the Council of 9 has authority in TITO.
Article 4. The 10000 Islands Treaty Organization is the defense and military arm of the 10000 Islands, subject to the authority of the Chief Executive as Commander in Chief. No action of the Senate shall have authority to intervene with or override decisions of the Chief Executive. TITO shall act for the defense of the 10000 Islands and its allies and friendly regions deemed to be under attack by aggressor regions.
"No action of the Senate shall have authority to intervene with or override decisions of the Chief Executive." The Council of 9 cannot affect TITO missions.
In conclusion, the Council of 9 has absolutely no autority to do anything with TITO. As Washing Macines pointed out, "...this is called a military junta." This is not a military junta. So please do not imply any uses of TITO in your campaign except maybe for use in a dossier.
Thank you ASNP

I believe I would make a great senator because I truly want to serve and represent all of you in Senate. Also, I have policies that I feel represent the opinions of most nations in our region, and if that changes, I am willing to compromise with my constituents if I feel it is for the best of 10000 Islands. I am very active, and I plan to become even more active when elected senator. I have friendly relations with many of the nations within 10000 Islands, and I plan on working close with our governing departments.
10000 Islands is my home, and I promise that I will always put it and its inhabitants first. Like all of you, I want to see our region prosper, and I will do anything to fulfill that. I am already in the process of creating a communication system for my constituents and I, to insure that we always keep in touch. My knowledge of the constitution is growing everyday, and I try to work closely with the Department of Education to make sure all the nations of 10000 Islands understand it.
I have been an active member of 10000 Islands ever since I moved here from Urbanites, where I served as Advocate for Intelligence. I have along history of fighting against region-crashers by gaining intelligence to stop their invasions, and in one case, I was able to give 10000 Islands (then with no founder, and at a population of about 40) an early warning about an attack against them.
Out of all the regions I have been in, which isn't that many, 10000 Islands is the one I will forever call home, and the one I wish to serve.
First, let me say I will not attack my fellow opponents as one insists on doing to me because I don't believe in negative campaigning. I will only make the case for myself.
I would just like to point out 2 things.First, by sarcastically stating that she "will not attack my fellow opponents as one insists on doing to me because I don't believe in negative campaigning," that in itself is negative campaigning. Also, she says that she will "speak for all the 10000 Islanders who are not a part of TITO while keeping the interests of TITO members in mind." She later says that "the Senate will rightly retain TITO dominance, but at least all segments of the population will be heard." This is a huge conflict of interests. She says that she will speak for non-TITO members, yet keep TITO in mind. She later decides that TITO should be the majority in the Council of Nine. I don't understand how she plans to speak for non-TITO members, while watching out for the best interests of TITO. Huge conflict of interests. I will take this time to publically endorse:
