Promote Estayland to the Delegate Spot (PEDS)

Okay, I couldn't come up with a nifty acronym this time, but that's okay.

As with any campaign, I make one promise... the promise that I will do the best I can. I can tell you what I'd like to see and what I'd like to try to accomplish, but I am only 1 out of 9. It is your job to lobby your elected officials to do what you want.

Here are some of the ideas I have as delegate:

1. Endorsement targets - Within the past month or so, I posted messages to the RMB asking everyone to endorse Fleeb. The more endorsements a delegate has, the stronger his voice is in the UN. I would like to see an endorsement target of 25% of the population of the region endorse the delegate. Eventually, I'd like to bump this up to 1/3.

2. UN resolutions - I would encourage all UN nations eligible to submit them to think of new and creative resolutions that can improve the body. If it appears to be reasonable and well written, I will give an approval... even if I disagree with it. I will also assist with wording if asked. Also, I plan to get feedback on all UN proposed resolutions.

3. Foreign relations - I would like to promote Jesioneka's foreign affairs idea. A delegate is a head of foreign affairs in a way since he deals with the UN. The delegates of regions should continue to be in contact with each other to share ideas and give and receive advice. I would like to take on a symbolic role as foreign minister or secretary of state with guidance and support of Jesioneka.

4. Openness - As a senator, I have always been willing to listen to ideas. As a delegate, I will also be there to address any ideas or concerns by our citizens.

Remember: the delegate's duty is to lead by serving. I am here to assist in whatever way I can. TG or IM me at any time. I may not post to every thread, nor do I log the most time in the forums, but I will take my job seriously and do my best if elected.

I'm very flattered and, if you become delegate, I would support you however you asked and provide whatever guidance you requested. I'm no expert on foreign relations, but I'm open to help. And I certainly agree with you on what the Delegate's role is in foreign affairs.

Now for a question...I know you were an ambassador before and found it pretty pointless. I'm always afraid that Emissaries (specifically the ones in less active regions) might find their jobs pointless too. So I tried to design the program more around learning about other regions and educating us here at home. This way, we might learn the best ideas other regions have and then adapt them to the Islands.

So far results are mixed on the program, in my opinion. What can be done to improve it? And more broadly, what can we do to revive our foreign relations (TITO or otherwise)? Are you like Glu and still believe in alliances (even with defender networks)? Or are you more like GL and believe alliances are a thing of the past?

...ok, so that's more like 4 questions, but maybe that'll spark some more discussion on this...

I dont know if anyone here is truly an expert, but people have different ideas which can lead to better choices.

I found it pointless because the region I was assigned to was unresponsive. I would periodically send TGs to the founder and delegate of the region, yet I would get no response.

We should make sure we are involved in regions that actually care about foreign relations and either try to improve or cut those regions that are unresponsive. I see Canada, Gatesville and The New Meritocracy are active. We should definitely try to get involved in large player-created regions and game-created regions like the Pacs and maybe the Rejected Realms.

As Tactical Officer of TITO, I always kept in touch with other defender leaders to give and get assistance with missions. There have been attempts to get some alliances going, but there are always rifts (which I really dont think I should get into). If the regions want to start an embassy here, they should be welcome to.

I'm just curious because you've talked with these defender organizations more than I have with your experience as a TO, did you ever converse with them about their view on TITO and the 10KI, maybe areas where we might improve ourselves or where we had strengths?

Other defenders I have talked with do have respect for TITO. We are willing to help in whatever way we can. They appreciate letting them know of situations and vice versa. However, I cannot comment on other strengths and suggested improvements due to security concerns.

As the delegate election inches closer, I would like to once again ask for your vote. I believe we can continue to help make 10000 Islands an even better region, but it takes us all to do our part. I will seek ways that will motivate and encourage our citizens to get more involved and seek out what they feel would be their best contribution to the region.

Please continue to question and learn what each candidate brings to the table. Come to me with your suggestions. Let me know how I can better serve.

I once again humbly ask all those who have not voted to please vote for me. My tenure as delegate will not be long, but it will be productive. I have ideas and goals I would like to see happen in this region. Personally, I would like to see our region above 400 within 2 months. I'd also like to see an endorsement count of at least 100. Other ideas I have are a monthly trivia game, another treasure hunt, and other activities that will bring you and others back to our forum. I will also do my best to bring all new UN resolutions to a vote and vote how you want.
