We three nations are committed to a clean campaign for delegate, not one that tears others down to promote ourselves. We feel that the UPP is on a campaign that makes us look as if we are not active and committed to our region. This certainly is not true.
Just because one nation posts more than the others does not mean his commitment is better. More posts does not always mean more quality input. More posts does not mean more work. Sometimes, the mark of a good leader is to know when to shut up and listen, and talk sparingly.

This is in responce to a UPP message for Gluulands Election Campaign.
The implications of the passage in question are unintended in that respect, and serve only to highlight the presense of our candidate rather than the lack therein of any other candidates. Our use of statistics, whilst accurate, was unfortunate in the orginal draft which was leaked, as opposed to the revised version which will be widely distributed.
In addition, i call into question the neglection of mention of other parts of the message sent to The Opposition, which serve not to diminish the qualities of the other candidates, rather suggest that -and i quote- the opposition is of such 'high caliber'. The implication being that a tight contest is in order, and that any ultimate decision would be favourable.
Thus, i would have to criticize the methods endorsed by certain members of The Opposition to lower the tone of an otherwise positive message. The aims of our advertising being to solely promote Gluuland as the best man for the job, and re-itterate our belief that ultimately any vote is a good vote, as it strengthens the basis of democracy. ----------------------------------------------
To those of you who did not get the TG, here it is. (emphasis added) --------------------- Dear estayland,
I am contacting you on behalf of the United Progressive Party’s ‘Gluuland For Delegate’ campaign. As you are aware, the region is undergoing an election process to find the right nation to fill the Delegate Position, and more importantly, the empty space left by Fleeb, who, for the last 250+ days has served the Region with distinction and honour.
Given the necessity for his successor to be able to carry on the service and dedication to the region, it is important that we, the citizens of 10000 Islands chose wisely.
This is why we at the UPP would like to give you some information about Gluuland, who is running for Delegate. Not only is Gluuland one of the more recognizable members of our community, having been part of it since 2004, but his qualities and recognizable service are enough to make him more than eligible for the position: Gluuland has been involved in Government for many months, as a Senator, as forum Moderator, and Council of Nine Minister. His active participation and involvement in both legislative reform, and Departmental work -for The Department of Labour and Education- is backed up by even more commendable involvement. A prominent member of TITO, Gluuland has both extensive knowledge of foreign policy, and of what it means to be a 10KI Citizen. Even recently, he willing took up the reins of an Ambassadorial Position to Gatesville.
However wise a choice he may seem, we must put things in context. This is of greatest importance given the high caliber and integrity of the other candidates. Whilst an election resulting in the appointment of either Estayland, Goldenloser, or HockeyNutVille would be by no means something to lament, we must consider the facts as they stand. The following information has been compiled from reliable sources, and demonstrates two key areas of involvement and experience:
Total Co9 Posts: (Accurate to 10:37 on 27.1.06) Grub -86 Estayland -67 GoldenLoser -81 Gluuland -190 HockeyNutVille -48
However you chose to vote, make sure you do so. A democratic 10000 Islands is a strong one. If you have any questions about The UPP’s ‘Gluuland For Delegate’ campaign, please feel free to contact either myself, or our Campaign Manager, Sinn. --------------------
To me, this implies that we are not active in our discussions in the Co9. Everyone on the Council materially participates. I can't get too specifics due to Council rules, but the ministers and senators on the Co9 are doing the best to their abilities.

I say again, and with particular emphesis here in the bold bits:

Fellow 10000 Island Citizens: We three nations are committed to a clean campaign for delegate, not one that tears others down to promote ourselves. We look forward to election time. Signed, Estayland
The UPP is also committed to a clean campaign... We recognize that you "listen to all sides." As do we all... As a senator, I have tried to be involved in every topic brought up in the Co9. While i agree that one shouldn't vote for me purely because i have more posts, I have been more active in responding with constructive thoughts rather than just listening.
I'm afraid the status quo has changed, and this region can not merely vote on the pretense that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
During my time in the Co9 i have tried very hard to change the 10000 Islands for the better, while you have been listening and nodding. These include the following: the buddy program, immigration, stockmarket, university, payroll, Christmas party, forum/TITO refurbishment, and even senate reports. I have been online almost every day, while i have not seen any of you around until it was announced that Fleeb was retiring. Coincidentally, this announcement came the day after I asked him if he would like to be more active in the Co9....

Seeing as /you/ have made this info public, i take it that i can comment on it....
The statistics, while not meant to place anyone inferior/superior to another, show to what degree we are willing to commit time to the region....

Unfortunately, you can't have it both ways in promoting Glu and complimenting the opposition. I thought the numbers were demeaning in any event regardless of whether they weren't meant to be seen on a wide scale.
I am hoping to not delve into any more "controversial" advertising on anyone's part. I have no problem in the UPP's right to advertise to the Region Glu's credentials and why it makes him the right choice, but from the telegram that I read and the impression that I got and I know I am not the only one, that it was meant as a slander to show a "lack" of something in a classified area in which statistics from it should not be shown to the public.
I hope from this point on, the UPP will be a little more careful in it's choice of advertising. There is a line between promoting it's candidate and lowering it's opponents to elevate it's own.
The pm containing all the info was sent out inadvertently.... One of our UPP members sent it out before i gave the ok... When i did get the "draft" i asked sinn to remove the other candidate's post counts.... And then estay posted it here.... So.... You are by no means lazy... Well, not in the Co9.... We all like a drink now and then...

I'm not going to repost what i said a third time. We Do NOT mean to diminish the services and qualities of each of you. Whilst i can understand that you might take offense at the way it was posted in its original format, i object vehemently to any attacks on Gluuland's personal integrity regarding the document in question.
I wrote it, so it should be my literary technique that is called into question rather than anything else.
We are NOT out to make a slanderous campaign, but perhaps the fact that the UPP has made moves to promote it's candidate with such haste suggests our mutual desire to aid our region to the best of our abilities.

Pheww. I'm Glad we all got that pent up aggression out of our systems. A Nice clean election campaign from all of us now? Agreed? Good. Then seeing as i am a minor, i'd better have an alcoholic beverage....
