You know, I've always wondered what the appeal of fishing is. I mean, you sit around in a leaky boat, spear worms with hooks, and wait for a few hours for some fish to bite your hook, and then you may or may not engage in strenuous physical exercise reeling the thing in...what's the point? So, basically, my quesiton is, why do you guys fish?
I do it because I find it extremely relaxing. Even if I don't catch any fish I still love being out in nature. It's so peaceful.
Also, they're is a lot more to fishing than sitting in a leaky boat. When I fly fish I'm standing up to my hips in crystal clear cool running water w/ waders on. I don't stab worms w/ hooks, I use hand tied flies(lures) that aren't even 1/2 an inch long.
I like fishing if I can just sit there on the docks at night, without too many people around, and not actually have to fish. Or a boat on the water... water is relaxing.
Fish stink. Literally.

I love fishing. I go fly fishing as much as I can. But I deep sea fish more often. I live on the chesepeake bay so I fish in there alot(which is my version of deep sea fishing). I like it because most deep sea fish put up a good fight, and a good meal .

I'm soooooooo jealous...I've always wanted to go sea fishing. Ever since I read Hemingway...it started with "Islands in the Stream," and my goal was solidified in "The Old Man and the Sea."

On a pond. Not quite sure what you meant by that question. I just go out in a canoe and fly fish with my uncle down in Alabama. I don't really know anything about fly fishing. Just that its fun.
And I don't go far enough out to get marlins. Plus I'm in the Atlantic. Biggest thing I'll catch is a sand shark. But there are a lot of fish in the sea just waiting to be caught by me.

What ever kind of fish I can catch ;D. Really I have no idea. I just let my uncle set up the lurer and stuff like that. I just throw it where the fish should be.

I've deep-sea fished... but probably the only reason I fish is because a boat is probably the only mode of transportation I don't.... dislike It was pretty fun, though.
