Could the U.S. take over the World?

I know this is a hypothetical question and probably is really stupid but do you think that the U.S. could someday take over the world?

Impossible for anyone to do that. China and Britain alone could take the US I think. Then throw in the rest of the world. It wouldn't even be close.

Look at Iraq and Afgahnistan, we are having enough trouble with those two and they are not industerial powerhouses. Also, there is so much more to conquest than warfare, there is providing for your new citizens so they do not rebel.

Yeah, you have to consider the size of the world.

Say we've got the whole thing, right? Things would be spread so widely that uprisings would more than likely sprout all over the place due to all of the cultural differences in the world. We'd have to have an iron fist rule, but even then, we lack the manpower for that.

I have been to several parts of the world that even the people there don't want. What on earth (!) would make the United States WANT to take over those parts of the world, or even some of the choicer ones?

Anybody ever read a series of novels called "Chung-Kuo"? They were about the world 200 years-plus from now when the Chinese had taken over the world and covered it with miles-high of apartments. Now that was believable.

I thought Britain already was part of the US , IMHO i think China is one of the most powerful nations in the world.

Some people say we are already taking over the world, and of course they always mention Starbucks and McDonalds in that same sentence. But it goes the other way too. Its been predicted that in the near future over half of our population will spak Spanish, and whites will be a minority.

This is cultural stuff, though. The idea that America could conquer the world by force is pretty far-fetched (to say the least)

It's ludicrous. And there are a ton of people that think that the US is taking over the world through covert diplomatic methods. Also, like Down Under There said, others think that the US is using corporations in order to increase its "empire." It's all ridiculous of course. And I don't think that any country in the world could take over the whole world. Not even China. I doubt that they would all fight for the regime.

Canada would take quite awhile, and then as we worked our way down we'd be beaten pretty brutaly in all of the jungles and rainforests and stuff i think.

Brazil has the capactiy to build nuclear weapons and is on there verge of joining the elite club of nations that can send things into space. Brazil has one lone nuclear plant that was built during its military dictatorship phase starting in the late '50s early '60s and going into the '80s. Colombia has "communist" narco-guerillas that hate the US for backing the Colobian government. Chile would not be keen on the US due to American involvement in placing the mass-murderer Pinochet in power.

You have got to be kidding me!

The USA first of all, would never "take us over" (as you can tell if you didnt know, I am Canadian).
Second of all, Canada and the States are interlinked through markets and economies.

I suggest those who think they could, should read/listen to the speech made by President Kennedy in the House of Commeons, Parliament Hill in Ottawa.

..Plus, the world would absolutly get pissed!

If they managed to fight their way through south america, they would face real problems when fighting against the UK when trying to take over the Falklands, since they would probably be pretty tired by then.

Yeah, and looking at what happened to Aregentina when it tried to take over the Faulklands, that would do in the states. We would probably have to bow to the Queen of England again because of that.

Impossible. Even though the US spends more on it's military that most nations combined, there is no way that it could ever manage to take over the entire world. Other countries, like China, India, and a few other countries in Asia could probably form quite a resistance agaist the US merely due to their large populations, despite huge US military spending.

EDIT: Could the US take over the world? Yes...but it would have to destroy it with a nucleur bomb first.

He gives you the "fallout 2 survival guide" and if you read it, your stats go all the way up. It's insane, and it makes exploring the map a cakewalk.

Yes indeed. Which is your favorite weapon? I like the bozar but the flamethrower is the most fun to watch . The plasma rifle kicks ass but the visual effects of death aren't as fun.
