My opinion is that Spam is highly unecessary, and also just plain annoying! There is no point to it, since no one actually pays attention to Spam, and it should not be allowed any longer. Does anybody have any other thoughts?

As that is a very good idea, that isn't what it is proposing. It is basically saying that e-mails to citizens of UN nations are being spammed they can sue. As I believe that is good for the individual person, I think the definition of spam needs to be specified more. Just "unwanted solicitory email" is not a specific enough wording. I would mostly agree to this proposal except it hurts businesses some. Spam is some of how they advertise things. I will be voting NO on this proposal because it hurts the ventures of business and the proposal is not specific enough on what is "spam".

I believe it is up to individual countries whether they outlaw spam or not. Personally, spammers are 'volunteered' to 'assist' in the feeding of ninja-monkys in my nation.

Overall, I hate spam and as a knee jerk agree with the proposal. However, there are some problems. First off, this WILL effect our economies. There are several e-businesses that do depend on spamming, as annoying as it is. We'll lose tax revenue and economic strength at least in the short period. Secondly, once again the UN will have control directly over something that should probably be internal. Finally, there are costs that will be incurred in tracing back the origin of the spam and litigating against the companies. Who will assume those costs? The region? The country? The individual? In all cases this will also harm our overall economic growth.
Hmmm... I do believe I just talked myself out of this proposal...
