Description: Henceforth all women shall have the right to choose whether to have an abortion or not, no member nation will interfere with a woman's right to have an abortion.

Too bad the baby doesn't get to choose because that is who is killed in an abortion. I am voting no.

Yet another issue that should be decided by individual nations, not by the UN. That's the real debate, not pro-life vs. pro-choice. For that reason, I vote no.

This isn't forcing women to have abortions, all it says is that the women have the right to choose. This is exactly a pro-life pro-choice argument, and the proposal is pro-choice.

That's a good point, Jesioneka. The UN isn't supposed to run countries, each nation should make those types of decisions.

I hate how everything passes, despite most of the proposals we get being stupid, badly written, or, like this, what should be an individual nation's choice. Why does everybody (in the nationstates world, not here) just say yes, even if the proposal is awful??

I'm sorry, I kinda just had to say that, and it had nothing really to do with this proposal in particluar. When it comes to abortion, I really can't decide, so I really hope it does turn out to be a clear vote here.

I vote no, another spectacular example of a poorly written resolution. Perhaps if there had been more restrictions on it, as I don't agree with abortion past a certain point in the pregnancy.
This is none of the UN's business, and proposals of this magnitude should not be under thirty words.

I vote yes, because I think it is the woman's choice. Being a woman, if I ever was in this position (god forbid), I know I would want the choice. I'm not a UN nation anymore, so if I don't count, subtract one YES

Without getting into my personal feelings about this proposal, the bottom line is this: The UN has no business dictating to individual nations how they should stand on this issue. And I feel proposals of this magnitude cannot be taken seriously at one sentence.

Boktavia, I vote no, but I accidentally hit yes on this forum poll. Please subtract my vote from the total yes votes. I cannot state strongly enough that I feel this is a matter for individual nations to decide.

The thing that is badly written about this proposal is that it's too broad.. I would vote yes if there was a certain timespace to get an abortion, but with this, it's either flat yes or no.. It's a badly written proposal IMO and I just can't vote on it

Since the UN proposals/regulations don't really mean anything and don't affect nations, I don't see why we should vote against proposals because they "infringe" on rights of a state.

seriously. its none of my buissness what someone does with their body. i dont want someone else telling me thst i have to have a baby if i dont want to or cant.
it is up to each nation to decide, it is too personal of an issue to force, in RL or otherwise.

in RL news on the subject: the San Francisco Supreme Court struck down the federal law banning second term abortion today.

You're right that it's too important an issue to force in RL. However, since UN resolutions don't have any real authority over a nation, the issue isn't really forced on a nation, and the nation still has the opportunity to decide the issue.

Sometimes, they do...when the 40 hr work week passed, my nation's economy dropped a notch. I had not voted on any issues, and it happened right after I got the telegram from the "compliance ministry".

Ok, ignoring the fact that it is a pretty badly written proposal, and maybe it should be for individual nations to decide, then this comment is for all who said something about the baby's rights.

The way I see it, the baby is 100% dependent on the mother, and if having the baby will make life too difficult, or complicated for the mother, then she has the right to choose to abort.

i'd hate for this UN to be run by 1 second rules...those dumb guns for minors, guns for all because guns are fun...you know those ones that don't get far...it is also a cheap trick where people endorse their own resolution...

It's a tad late, but I vote no simply because it's worded horribly. I agree with its sentiments, the decision should be left to the parties involved, but to legislate it in this manner is irresponsible.
