--Declaration of Independance of the United States: adopted in 4 July 1776, declared the thirteen colonies in the Atlantic coast of North America were now declaring independence in relation to the Kingdom of Great Britain. Although they are united here in being independent, they're not together as one nation.
--US Constitution: After the failure of the lack of powers the Articles of the Confederation gave at the central power, a constitutional convension gathered at Pennsylvania, creating the document known as the Constitution of the United States of America in 1787. The government started to work in 4 March 1789.
The rationale of this constitution is explained mostly at the preamble (...form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence...).
The next articles divide and conform what is to be the Federal Government:
Article One: The Congress (Parliament)
Article Two: The President (Executive)
Article Three: Judicial Branch
Article Four: The relations between the Federal and State powers and governments.
Article Five: Describes the steps to create an ammendment to the Constitution, either by National Convention or the Congress. In the first, it needs 2/3 of the State Legislatures, then to be passed to Congress, then to be approved by 3/4 of the States. In the latter, 2/3 of the Senate and House of Representatives approve this, and again, it's passed to the other state legislatures for a 3/4 approval. It could also be a state convention.
Article Six: Federal Power; Supreme Law of the Land; Treaties; National Debt; oath to be taken by Federal officials; state laws shan't enter in conflict with Federal laws.
Article Seven: Ratification: The constitution won't work unless at least 9 states approve it (done by 1789)
--Bill of Rights: A slight little error, for me, was to not include the Bill of Rights directly on the constitution, and to exclude them from ammendment (that is, to be deleted):
I. Freedom of Religion
II. the right to keep and bear arms, and a Militia to be kept (controversial meanings in discussion up to today...)
III. No soldier shall be quartered in a private house without the consent of the Owner (sometimes seemed as a right to privacy)
IV. No searches nor arrests nor seizures shall be made without a specific warrant (some rights to privacy have been inferred from this)
V. Rights of the accused; No repeated trials, no major trial without an indictment of a grand jury; No person shall be made to testify against himself; just compensation for taking private property: the basis of 'eminent domain'.
VI. Speedy trial; jury of peers; guarantee of legal counsel for the accused; guarantees that the accused may require witnesses to attend the trial and testify in the presence of the accused. V. and VI. have been known also as the Miranda rights and have to be read to the accused in the arrest.
VII. Trial by jury in civil cases involving anything valued at more than 20 United States dollars at the time, which is currently worth $300, when accounting for inflation.
VIII. No excessive bail or fines, and cruel and unusual punishment.
IX. declares that the listing of individual rights in the Constitution and Bill of Rights is not meant to be comprehensive; and that the other rights not specifically mentioned are retained elsewhere by the people. (Liberality of interpretation of rights)
X. The powers that the Constitution does not delegate to the United States and does not prohibit the states from exercising, are to go to the State or the People

heres a little extra stuff

Writing the Const:
Commander of the Continental Army, Geroge Washington won respect of his countrymen. Because of his high esteem that they held him, Whashington's fellow delegates elected him president of the Constitution Convention. His job was to keep the meetings orderly and effective. Each state got one vote, no matter how many delegates that state had sent. If a state sent more than one delegate, they had to come to an agreement about their state's one vote.

Signing the Const:
The Const. Convention met over a period of 4 months. Because the weather was bad and travel was diffcult, the 55 delegates were seldom all together at once. For most process 35 delegates where present. The delegates were selected by their state. The age of these men where from 50-81. Oldes Benjamin Franklin. These men were laywers, judges, landowners, and all at least held one public office. They are known as the "Founding Fathers" The state that sent the fewest delegates was New Hampshire. The most was Pennsylvania.

I am going to send and ask a few questions, you are allowed to look up on internet. When testing, i hope you are honest and do not cheat!

The committee that was formed to draft this was composed of John Adams (MA), Benjamin Franklin (PA), Jefferson (VA), Robert Livingstone (NY), and Roger Sherman (Conn.). They decided Jefferson to draft it and later show it to Adams and Franklin: Franklin did over 40 corrections to it.

The original copy was presented in 28 June 1776, the formal declaration of Independence was delayed to 2 July 1776. It was finally revised by 4 July 1776 and sent to print.

Well, Yorktown's battle was in 1781. The House of Commons voted for peace in April 1782. The end of war occured with the signing of the Paris Treaty 3 September 1783, ratified by Continental Congress in 14 January 1784...

Executive, Legislative, Judiciary
the President and his cabinet head the Executive
the Congress, a bicameral parliament, consisting of a Senate and a House of Representatives
the Supreme Court heads the Judiciary, followed by the subdivisions in minor areas.

The Executive [officially], execute laws, commander in chief, chief of state, chief diplomat, signing or vetoing laws coming from Legislative power, power to grant pardons or reprieves, and, with the "advice and consent" of the Senate, to make treaties and appoint federal officers, ambassadors, and federal judges, including Justices of the Supreme Court. The Executive is headed by the President of the United States, chosen indirectly by the Electoral College every 4 years.
Legislative: create laws, eliminate laws, amend laws, declare war, raise and maintain the armed forces, make rules for the military, power of removal and the power of the purse; to levy and collect taxes, borrow money, regulate commerce with foreign nations and among the states, and coin money.
Also to oversee the executive branch. In the check and balances, they can impeach the president.
The Judiciary: it's not as centralised as the other guys in the other branches. However it has
General jurisdiction courts (such as the Supreme Court, district and appeal courts) and,
specific subject-matter jurisdiction courts (such as bankruptcy courts, tax courts, and even the foreign intelligence surveillance court.) In theory, Congress could eliminate every court level except for one single Supreme Court Judiciary.

Article III Courts
Congress vests these courts with jurisdiction to hear cases involving the Constitution or federal law, as well as certain cases involving disputes between citizens of different states or countries.
Article I Courts
Set up by congress, these are not subject to the Article III protections. I.E.: these judges do not enjoy life tenure, and their salaries may be reduced by Congress. Disputes have been raised with this in the Supreme Court.
