Does anybody know if there is a way to like make a chatroom just for 10000 Islands people? I think it would be a really cool thing to do since we could all talk to eachother and get to know eachother and even keep minute to minute updates! If anybody knows if it is possible and/or knows how to run one post it here.

You can either create a mIRC room (very easy, I believe they do this for the mods) or a java applet room (not sure how difficult, I believe the NPO does this).
Either way, my university network prevents me from entering them, so good idea, but until the holidays I'll have to sit them out.
The easiest way to make one would be through a company. They make the code for you and you can choose features i.e. background colour and text colour and you can choose whether to let anybody post or only members things like that. Some of these chat rooms are expensive but you can get banner/ad supported ones, some companies offer free chatrooms and all you have to do is have a link to their site from yours.

Problem with third-party chat rooms though, are they may have limitation. They're alot of people who use this system. If they have a limit amount of people who can access it, then it is not worth it. Plus, mIRC is a good tool, but can be confusing for those who do not know much of it.
It is possible to get one on Gamesnet, just go to #support and ask to register a channel (#10kIslands, or similar). Grub should do it, since they usually ask for proof of admin in the group.
