Okay, I think we've all heard the story by now about the Democratic governor of Illionois trying to auction off Barack Obama's senate seat.

But now, according to the WSJ, the man also threatened to take away 8 million dollars from the Children's Memorial Hospital unless the CEO promised to make a $50,000 contribution.

Honestly, this really reaches a new low in human decency.

Illinois should just impeach the slimeball already. If he won't do the relatively classy thing and stand down now that he's lost all credibility, force him out. Or at least strip him of the right to choose Obama's successor.

I'm an Illinois liberal who voted very much against Blagojevich. Never liked him, never will. Our last governor (who is currently in prison) wasn't too much better, but at least he had a few good policies. Nothing Blagojevich has done has bettered anyone's lives...at all. I mean, in order to cover his own ass on a budget error, he closed a dozen state parks: including every decent hiking trail within two hours of my house.

Hopefully he won't be the only one to pay the price. Hopefully they can round up enough to deter the others from doing this sort of thing.

There was an snl skit the other day where Blagojevich was grilled by the senate.

Senator: You are disgrace to the state of Illionois. Actually, if you were the governor of any other state, you would be a disgrace to that state.

Looks like Blagojevich is going to actually get to name Obama's successor. I understand the Senate can refuse his credentials and deny him a seat, however.

Actually, it looks like he's already tried. His pick, former state attorney general Roland Burris, got rejected instantly by the Secretary of State and the senate majority leader. Super...if this keeps happening, Illinois will be short a senator in less than a month.

What ever happened to states' rights? Sure, the guy is a douche, but the law says he can appoint whomever he wants. Similar to this Coleman/Franken situation, the Senate can seat whichever they want even if the winner is determined after Congress goes back into session.
