Random Amazing Math Proofs!

Hey yall...I noticed that there are a lot of Math proofs that are fake! It is crazy how many are actually fake but they look like they work...Post any you know! If you look at my sig I prove that two is equal to one. Now let my prove -1=1

-1 = -1
Turn into Fractions
-1/1 = 1/-1
take the square root of each side
√(-1)/√(1) = √(1)/√(-1)
Simplify and know the square root of -1 is i (imaginary)

i/1 = 1/i
Cross Multiply
i² = 1
When ever i is squared it is always negative 1
Therefor
-1 = 1

Anyone else know any proofs?

sorry Minna...I love math you have no idea xD the reason why the proof where -1 = 1 is not actually true is because you can not divide by a number that does not exist....There is no two numbers (that are totally identical) that can be multiplied together to get a negative number because when you multiply two negatives you get a positive...and same happens when you multiply two postives...Therefore a new kind of numbers where made they are called "imaginary numbers" which can be answers to finding all roots to a polynomial. They needed these for the Fundamental Theorem of Algebra to be true which states that for "X raised to the n power then there are n solutions." Without imaginary numbers you will not have the n number of solutions.

Wow. I understood about as much as you always get a positive number when you multiply two negative numbers and then you lost me!

Sorry ...if you get me going on math i will just take off...lol I love math!!! It is soooo amazing.

That is why when i get into collage i want to teach it actually. It is my dream job...as odd as a dream that sounds. And anyways they always say that collages always need math teachers.

Awesome lol Right now I am teaching myself Calculus while learning Pre Cal in school...hmm I think I am getting a bit ahead of the gun lol I just found these amazing math notes by this guy who teaches at a collage and he teaches Calculus I, II, and III and I have gotten through recently Calculus I I love it! w00t. Limits, Derivatives, and anti-derivatives! That is all they cover in a whole math class lol but it is quite a bit harder then you would think for just three topics lol

Haha...I am the exact opposite...I like my Math...that is it xD English is my second worst subject..(next to History ugh...) I can't stand anything where you just have to remember dates and all of this stupid stuff...

I love math proofs. It has been awhile since I've done them. I minored in Mathematics in my undergraduate studies. (My major was English Literature, btw.)
