Repeal "World Assembly Economic Union" A proposal to repeal a previously passed resolution
Category: Repeal Resolution: #26 Proposed by: Southeastern Evropa
Description: WA Resolution #26: World Assembly Economic Union (Category: Free Trade; Strength: Strong) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.
Argument: RECOGNIZING Resolution #26 as an abuse of the international power invested in the World Assembly
APALLED that the resolution makes no reference to developing nations (only to nations in "severe economic crisis"), not recognizing the importance of tariffs, subsidies, and other such “protectionist devices” to the improvement of developing nations’ domestic nonessential industry, which is vital to economic expansion and advancement
NOTING that Resolution #26 only benefits the few nations with powerful nonessential industries, effectively out-competing the minor industries of less developed nations due to forcibly unrestricted borders
OUTRAGED especially at the fact that the World Assembly Trade Commission (WATC) is given the unchecked power to arbitrarily regulate intra-national subsidies which do not fall under the category of international trade
The World Assembly hereby repeals the “World Assembly Economic Union” Resolution.
I voted against this. Many things that are passed get repealed for no reason, I am tired of seeing things repealed. The original proposal was fine.
If the person who wants this repealed really does care about developing nations than they should seek to expand upon the "World Assembly Economic Union" rather than put another good idea in the garbage.

Good to see you settling nicely into the delegate seat, HNV. It's so weird seeing your name in pink...
I never liked this resolution to begin with, and I was waiting to see what Ananke would say about it. If a socialist sees no value in this resolution, I have no business supporting it either.

The cities have fallen and become one; Progress determines existence. Humans have become numbers and fear their drive. Free thought, desire and love are subject to censorship. Millions accept this from the beginning to their end. Will you also go the way presented, or do you belong to those who rise in these modern times?

Heh, I'm actually more of a Social Democrat really, so pretty middle of the road. I just tend to jack up my socialist credentials a bit when I'm around conservatives (especially american ones ). Anyway, in general I tend to be in favour of free trade, as long as the orgs and regulations dealing with it aren't too rigid. I am sympathetic to this repeal's point about there not being much thought for developing nations in the resolution it wants to repeal, but like Chronopolice I don't find this argument weighty enough to pass the repeal.

I don't like anything with Union in it. It is nothing but trouble. I would have to agree with Chrono. It is weak. So I am leaving my vote up for the Delegate to choose.
