Hi Everyone,
When NS2 was announced, I was excited about the possibilities. Unfortunately, NS2 has not lived up to my expectations and it has not held my interest. Titanica and the 10000 Islands alliance will remain in NS2, but for now, we will not do anything to maintain an official presence in NS2.

I couldn't agree more. NS2 is dull and the fact that you are restricted to a world means you can't play with all the friends you met here in 10K Islands.

I think we were all sucked into the hype of NS2 and while it is somewhat, and let me stress that word, was appealing to new "loner" nations, it is not conducive to the regional setup such as ours. Shame, it really had potential.
This makes me glad I never even bothered with NS2.
"A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more. Nobody is going to win a 5,000 meter race after running an easy 2 miles. Not with me. If I lose forcing the pace all the way, well, at least I can live with myself."
Yeah it's a wasted opportunity. I remember talking with other old NSers, who were excited about NS2 when they first announced that they were actually working on it. We thought it might let us rediscover some of the gameplay aspects, which made us hang around NS in the first place. The developers forgot that NS is a lot more than it's gamemechanics though. Sure, there's the people just answering issues and shaping their nations and a good deal of those people are probably fine with NS2 the way it is. The game doesn't really cater to any of the bigger active groups consisting of gameplayers, roleplayers, WA wonks or generalites though and forgot to really think community into it's structure.
I keep getting emails urging me to start playing other games that might interest me because I "enjoy NS2." I've gotten five or six such emails and the games aren't even that well-made. When I get this kind of heads-up from Bioware or Obsidian, I pay attention because their games are superb. Jolt should make NS2 more attractive, or else those emails will have the opposite effect.

I just got this in my email last night.
"Dear Rulers
As you know, NS2 launched in beta several months ago and has suffered from intermittent stability issues, mostly relating to the growing in-game economy, diplomatic networks and Alliance complexities. On July 1st, we are going to be taking the game down in order to perform substantial work on its architecture and features. This will not be a simple process and we are not able to give a definite timeline for when the game will return.
To ensure that players do not lose out because of this interruption, we will be turning off new registrations and payment options this week.
We regret having to take such extreme action but unfortunately, the underlying design of the game has several major flaws which must be addressed otherwise it will become irreversibly broken. As soon as we have new information, you'll be informed..."
[rant]I have to be honest - NS2 felt like a slap in the face to me. I actually went off on the NS2 forum and sent a PM to the mod (Fris) that was at the neutral territory conference, of whom actualy heard what the gameplayers were saying and how to make NS1 better. Fris sent me a reply stating that he was just as disappointed as I was. Appearantly Max isn't listening to anyone.[/rant]
